Oh well, only eight months until the draft.

But before we fold things up for the year, this match does have the potential to throw-up some interesting tactical scenarios.

With Jamieson being named as a make-shift defender, there will not be any useless rucks pretending to be forwards this week.

The ground-level pressure applied up forward will no doubt benefit as a result.

It will be one of the most mobile Eagles teams that we will have seen in years - I expect as a result we shall be amazed by how slick the ball movement is during passages.

The question (as it was last week) is whether this team is capable of running out the match without being overrun in the later stages.

The upside is that North Melbourne are nowhere near as hard-running as Gold Coast are, and if B.Williams / Jamieson can break even with Xerri / Goldstein in the ruck, then it becomes a game of forward half dominance - which is a desirable outcome, considering the mobility and quality our our attacking options.

I still expect this match will be a loss - I just don't see the top-ups being able to come in from a non-AFL environment and run out four quarters at essentially a day's notice.

However, should their endurance surprise me, there is no reason this team with the quality that it still retains within it cannot account for the garbage truck that is North Melbourne.

That garbage truck beat us at home late last year when we had most our players available.

Just saying.

Does anyone know how many are out with Covid and how many are close contacts? Close contact isolation is going to kill the seasons of both WA clubs.
Why are they testing if no symptoms? Even close contacts, if no symptoms shouldn't be testing

I want to see a fight to win. They can win. Top up WAFL players are better that our drafyed kids in most regards based on the shera evidence of our WAFL PERFORMANCES. My point was that once you have a coach and leadership talking excuses and defeatist tones - you will lose almost certainly, juts like the HUB in 2020 which was a massive failure of leadership by the club.

Tragically moving around the 'east' with work I have seen far to many mental capitulations 'away form home' by the eagles to ever be too hopeful in an away game regardless of ins and outs.

Your point was that our only out that mattered was Barrass, which was clearly wrong because at that stage there were at least nine outs, half of which we didn’t know.

But Ok, next question: Where have our coach and leadership been talking excuses and defeatist tones?

Here’s some quotes from Simpson’s presser yesterday:

Eagles can control attitude: Simpson

“It’s just opportunity. It’s opportunity to perform and win in adversity. We want to be resilient and these are opportunities to display that,” Simpson said.

“Having the right attitude is the number one priority – we can control that.

“We can control effort and workrate and the rest of it, we’ll do our best.

“I’m still in a positive state. There’s no point crying about it, we’ve just got to get on with it.

“There’s some things there, some debutants like I said, there’ll be some positives we can take out of this and we are also playing to win.

“As much as that’s a challenge, that’s what we’re here for.”

It would be really interesting to know who has covid and who is just a close contact.

The reason being is the close contact rules in WA are very different to other states. If say 2 of the 12 have covid and the other 10 are just whay WA defines as close contacts and produced a negative PCR the day before and negative RAT on game day they could be playing if we were a Vic club for example.

This is where the club really has no options. We could potentially have 10 players in H & S protocols each week just on a rotating basis with no-one actually catching Covid.

So different rules in different states.

Hey, didnt we have to stop training together before because other states couldnt train? Other states had a surge and WA didnt so the AFL changed rules to keep things even?

Obviously that policy is implemented for some.......not all.

Well it's up to WC to complain to afl, which i haven't seen they are doing in the media

Well it's up to WC to complain to afl, which i haven't seen they are doing in the media

Because complaigning via the media is how the Eagles operate!

What would it matter anyway? VFL House only bends over for expansion clubs and their important Victorian clubs and stakeholders like the MCG.

Backed up by the VFL dominated media any complaining would be heckled from far and wide. It is how the AVFL propoganda machine works.

Gee even garry lyon has come onto our side.

No-one seems to have mentioned that he says the top ups had booster shots yesterday. I thought the general recommendation was to avoid strenuous exercise for a few days after vaccination? Not to mention impact on performance while they're recovering.

It's norf. Our WAFL battlers won't need to get out of first gear. :eek:khand

Because they can show evidence how rules were the same for all teams regardless of state, yet when the rules disadvantage certain teams what is done for equality?

By some absolute miracle we win this match can you imagine the team song and Gatorade showers! I got chicken skin just thinking about it

I find it a bit frustrating that the club has not disclosed who has covid and who's just a close contact. I'm not sure if it's the AFL that isn't allowing them, or they want to keep it a personal thing for the players.
In the NBA I think they disclose it, I'm not 100% sure about the A-League and NBL.
It might be a confidentiality thing

So then complain about it, publicly
And achieve nothing other than the usual bunch of muppets in the media who are in the AFL's pockets targeting us.
Waste of time complaining publicly, it is what it is. Shit situation but we were unlikely to do much this year anyway and at least a lot of our young guys will get games they wouldn't have otherwise.
