Nah. I disagree. Reid isn't best 22. Cox is miles ahead of him in terms of first choice. Cox is just being rested which is smart.

Ughh...
Cox will never be AA and Reid is far superior if he can stay fit.
In the end, it’s the difference between growing up with the game or being introduced to it in your early 20’s.
The issue with Reid, despite his age, is his fragility. But if he overcomes that, he is best 22 because he can play, and impact, both ends of the ground.
Versatility. The way the game is played these days.

Ah stuff all this mucking about.

Cox in.
Cox out.

It doesn’t matter, it’s not the main game.

Bring in Brayden Sier then the real stuff begins.

Blues are really struggling, lots of injuries and young players. The only danger is complacency. If we are switched on we win comfortably.

Always an issue with Collingwood.
We rise to the occasion against quality opposition.
We get dragged down to the level of crap opposition and sometimes don’t recover.

The way Reid reads the ball can't be taught, you need experience to get that. Reid is going to clunk more than Cox any day despite the height difference because he knows where to go and can read it off the boot. Cox can't read off the boot. You can tell because a lot of the time he goes under it or doesn't get to it. Reid is definitely the superior footballer but Cox has his own strength, mainly his height obviously so he's going to get the first bite all the time.

But I think Cox still probably own number 1 spot but they will feel awful if they have to drop Reid and he's still fit and gathering momentum. Mihocek is lucky he hits the scoreboard a lot so his weight of goals probably saves him but Reid has him covered too for influence around the ground. People forgot how good Reid is.

Reid peaking which he is now is best 22. His form is too hot to ignore. If he kicked straight and had 4 it would be a dilly of a pickle. Reid's best is of a high AFL standard and he didn't just get in because Cox went down, he was dominating at VFL level. It's a good problem to have, it's an abundance of riches but it's a chance to really audition Reid one more time but he is going to have to tear the house down to displace Cox or Mihocek long term. But it's not beyond him, he could have a field day against Carlton.

Sure he is having a patch of form, but to say he is "peaking" is just rubbish. Reid never kicks straight. That has always been his issue. Reid "was" an AA defender. But that time has passed. Now, yes Reid is a handy backup for Cox, but that is all he is. He probably will have a field day against carlton, but lets remember its Carlton. It's kinda like Ben Brown having a field day on the weekend. Ben Brown is shit against good defense.

No, Cox will never be AA, but you don't throw a 211cm beast into the reserves all for a previous AA defender at the end of his career. Reid's time is over man. He isn't best 22. We also don't need his versatility because we have Moore who will likely surpass Reid by becoming a multiple AA. Cox offers way more to the game than Reid does.

Wells is an outside mid and not a like for like replacement, Sier, Wills or DeGoey more suitable to replace Tay. And yes it is a danger game, apart from the norf game they've been playing good footy and seem to match up on us.

If there is anything that could be furtherest from a danger game, this is it.

Cox has had a huge day if he kicks 3 and take 10 marks. Reid can easily do that as well. It's not as cut and dried as you think. You say Reid is a dinosaur but Reid just turned 30, Cox is 28. People think Reid is old because he has been on the list since Buckley was around and has played so little for years but now he seems to be right in no way is he past it after turning 30 last week... he's fresh as a daisy. I was saying Reid is peaking being kind but if you still think Reid has more that proves even more that he is worth hanging onto for what he can potentially bring. We know Cox's ceiling, he showed it against Richmond but at the end of the night he had 3 to his name... Reid is capable of kicking 5 or 6. Cox has the runs on the board but Reid is still a very viable option.

Actually you could argue ANY game is a danger game, such is the evenness of the competition. As for carlton we haven't been convincing against them in recent years so there is doubt even though very minimal it's there for mine anyway.

I suppose the issue for me is the recovery of the player when the ball hits the deck.
And in this area, Reid is superior.
Oh, and the fact that, despite an improvement by Cox in this, the opposition are more than willing to take Cox on from their D50. Reid is more versatile in locking the ball in our F50.

Yeah Cox's height comes with obvious advantages and obvious disadvantages but his biggest strength is there is nothing else like him. You put Sandilands or Spider Burton or Witts forward they couldn't do what Cox does so he's a bit of a freak in what he can do forward for his height and there's no similar freak tall defender who can match him. A choice for Reid is a choice for the traditional key forward though, not the side show that can be Cox sometimes.

Cox had that special height which bamboozools the opposition.
He has the athletic talent as well.
Plus second ruck.

An easy choice for me, Cox every time.
Over Reid yes.

Most of Wells best work for us has been around the stoppages.
