VDM played great last night. Competed so well. With Treloar moving back to the wing, roarke has to miss.

I’m giving Wally the sub. Big guy deserves it.

‘Totally agree with all above.

We don’t mind going a tad shorter in games.
Keath - Brown
Gardner - Resting ruck
Duryea - Fritsch
Williams - mcdonald
Although McDonald is a genuine KPF size and good mark, he does his best work as a link up man on the lead. Bailey will have to play a little taller but I think he’s up to it.

Wood will be a certainty to go to Fritsch I’d imagine.

VIC's remember seeing this statement in 2020 - "We're not going to see, you know, 300s and 400s again in Victoria, not under my watch at least," Professor Sutton said. I am so angry like the rest of us, no opportunity to get to the game. Disgrace by the AFL!

So if Cody Weightman comes in then who wears his 2011 membership cap next week?

How much do you think premiership winning experience will play a factor in the GF?

Bont, Hunter, Macrae, Wood, JJ, Dunkley, Cordy, Libba and Daniel all have premiership winning experience. Treloar has played in a GF at the Pies.

Lever has played in a GF with Adelaide. Not sure any of the Dees have that level of experience.

Will it matter? It didn’t help Sydney in 2016.

There are no hard and fast rules, but generally teams who have experienced GFs do better than those who haven't.

I really like that there are 2 weeks to the GF this year. Reckon it helps us more than them on 2 counts;

- physically we've done it harder than them so the extra weeks recuperation should be of greater benefit to us,
- mentally, we're more collectively experienced at GFs, especially with positive outcomes, so the more time there is to stew in anticipation, the more likely they are to be affected.

No guarantees obviously, but every little advantage helps.

I won a great multi last night but even more excited about the GF. At the start of finals I took a crack at some awesome odds.

Norm Smith:
Bailey Smith @151-1
Bailey Dale @251-1
Bont @31-1

Only small bets (more on Bont) but potential for some huge returns there!

Also Dogs premiers @10-1

I think this year will be less mentally dawning then previously due to not having the same pre-game hype like training sessions with full crowds, grand final parade, fans in attendance aswell as both clubs playing away from home.

Dees are going to have to deal with more pressure IMO. Big drought, top of the ladder, all the expectations. Not sure it'll change much but might give us a chance to get an early jump before they settle. Or they might fade later from the emotional energy drain. Doubt it's much of an effect but this is a game of inches!

Dee's will be veryyyy hungry, just like we were in 16', Tiger's in 17' etc. I think for us this year, Stef Martin if named (I'm sure he will be) Schache, Hannan & Treloar are gonna play the best games of their lives for that premiership. Martin it's do or die for a premiership medal, i'm sure his going to go out with a bang in the GF & take Gawn on!

Very important as they know what to expect and can share this with the other players. Equally important is the coaching staff who have GF experience as they prepare for the next two weeks and have a better chance on focusing the players and managing their expectations.

Goodwin won two flags as a player, and Williams obviously has GF coaching experience. We have more recent experience from a coaching and playing perspective but it's not like Melbourne have none.

I'm interested in how they all cope with the two week break as it's unprecedented before a GF. This is particularly important as the first quarter will be so critical, getting out to an early 2-4 goal lead could be enormous.

The 2 week break couldn't come any sooner for us, all the travel & bullshit and road blocks. Drawing the short straw, we didn't even get a straw.

This will be harder than 2016. Playing against the hungry drought breakers this time who will be just as hungry as we were and as hungry as Richmond were.

Good thing is we are probably the only team that knows from past experience how hungry they’ll be.

I wonder how nervous Stephen May is after the hammy twinge.

The dogs midfield looked supremely dominant with Martin.

And Naughton is clunking them like Carey.

If Naughton steps up on GF day, it could be a performance for the ages.

May will obviously be hoping for a lot of support from Lever et al.

May will be fine.

Their midfield is a fair bit deeper than Port

Can definitely pencil Naughts in for a blinder. Playing a GF in front of his home town.

Keeping in mind we didn't actually get our mid yr bye this year, they trained through it. I hope they get a few days off now and that will do wonders for them mentally. Recharge then go for broke one last time.

I really hope we didn't cash all our credits last night.

I'm glad we get a bye this week, but it's sh*t before a grand final.

I feel like we get an extra week to enjoy the build up and hope of being premiers.

It also suits us given the level of travel over the past month and it allows for Martin and Weightman to get cherry ripe.
