It’s a meme at this point but imagine if Goody does flick the switch at the very last minute during the prelim and tells the players to attack and that was the plan all along. The absolute madman

The biggest risk to mitigate with our front half footy strategy is having the ball return to the centre of the ground: under no circimstances can we allow this as a team. We must have repeat stoppages, repeat inside 50s and dominate time in front half. Kick as many behinds as you want but kicking goals is a risk we are not willing to take.

Also players who do lead get burned too often . How often do we see Gawn or Jackson or Brown all jump for the same ball . Fritsch often seems to have someone else to jump against as well . Maybe would be best if the players just ignored the coaches and go nuts . If we are going to lose I want to go down swinging.

Love when we have 6 players all leading to the same pocket, and then when one of our 6 miraculously get their hands on the ball a teammate spoils an easy mark.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.

What do you think the problem here is?

With my newly-acquired ATG vision it looked like a lack of composure and also that we were slow. Plenty of times we had players in nice position but the Swans covered them by the time they were spotted so we just went "* nice kick to pocket will work1!!1".
Well kicking into the pockets is a major issue. It creates this dump of players that are just congested and even if we do mark it we are kicking from an angle. If that’s a directive then that’s dumb. We need to be opening up the space in 50 and drilling kicks like Sydney were doing. We don’t seem to use space well in the F50, there’s no dummy leads or decoy plays etc, it’s just a big pack of players choking up space.

Add to that our defensive forward pressure is poor, so opposition walk through ball out. We get killed on the spread because 3/4 of everyone is forward of centre.

We also choose non ruckman to compete with ruckman. F50. It’s ridiculous. We just concede a stoppage and pressure over the opportunity to score. We need to leave players in their best places, Brayshaw for example and Harmes as a offensive forward. I really want to see Harmes playing from HF.

I don't know how you can possibly not realise that this kind of entry where everyone knows where it's going can only ever favour the defensive team who will always have more numbers at the contest.

If we could draw up exactly how we want the opposition kicking it to May Lever and Petty it would be EXACTLY the way our coaches are telling us to enter our own forwardline.

Our backs are literally down one end hoping that the opposition will deploy our own attacking strategy against us because it's so dumb.

The stupidity is mind boggling.

out- BB, Melksham, Sparrow
in- JVR, Bowey, Smith

i'm blowing up the forward line. it's too predictable and i'm bringing in direct, lower, quicker entries. get some chaos ground ball and tackle pressure instead. anyone found kicking anything closely resembling a slow play high ball to the forward pocket is to be dropped for next week or delisted if we lose.

B- Hibberd May Petty
HB- Salem Lever Rivers
C- Langdon Oliver Brayshaw
HF- Spargo J.Smith Pickett
F- Hunt JVR Fritsch
R- Gawn Viney Petracca
I- ANB, Harmes, Jackson, Bowey

If we get angry at terrible forward half disposal why would we put Hunt down there?

As terrible a kick as Hunt is sometimes, ironically he's hit some of the best passes inside 50 outside of Spargo over the last month
Exactly. Not a horrible suggestion to try him forward. The forwardline is utter garbage and our small forwards just haven't looked anywhere near impactful this season. People are just throwing up suggestions. Hunt forward is a decent suggestion. Bowey back in to replace. I've heard worse ideas.

It's strange actually - our Grand Final win was going the same way as most of our top 4 losses this year - get ahead by playing fast attacking footy, slow down kick down the line and to the pocket... And start getting run over.

And then the Harmes to Fritsch kick happened.

He either miskicked it to the fat side or Fritsch led there and James decided to go against the plan and kick it there.

Wonder what the feedback was to that kick...

Sorry for the intrusion, but have been told Smith is a definite in this week likely for melksham. Just passing on information

If we cant trust special officer doofy who can we trust?

I was there too. Swans took up whole Ponsford and top deck of Shane Warne.
You are mad. It was 80/20 Melbourne supporter dominance. Swans fans were louder than their numbers but never even got close to how the crowd went off when Fritsch and Sparrow kicked their consecutive goals in the third.

If this happens you will be crowned the new ITK king of the Melbourne board.

I'd set Hunt up 55m out and tell him to kick torps for goal at every opportunity, just to make things more exciting.
Then I'd also tell Jackson to get on Gawn's shoulders in a large trenchcoat, so it looks like one person, and mark above everyone else on the ground.
What do you reckon Goody?
Also Hipwood and Daniher actually kicked straight last game against the Tiges, don't see them doing that again for this game.

Just checking your credentials, if we ever met out there in the real world would I need to bring a mouthguard?

I agree. They say the definition of being an idiot is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I honestly think it was a miskick. Harmes was trying to kick it to the top of the square where Brown and Fritsch were both lurking but copped a slight push from Roarke Smith just as he was making contact which pushed the ball further to the right than intended.

Na, 100% intentional imo, he was facing the direction the kick went. . He would straightened up if he was going for the top of the square or the kick would have been more like a snap across the body/swung his leg thru at a different angle.
