Just re-watched the game and in that 3rd 1/4 we looked our best running off our half back and every chain started with a lipinski handball to a player in space don't think it's him who will miss
He only got 13 possessions of which I think 8 were handballs, but you have convinced me to go back to the 3rd quarter and check out these chains to which he provided the first link.

A question for the mod squad. Are we able to amend the thread title from “Fri 22nd 7:50pm” to TBD?

It was pointed out on SEN this morning that the PF weekend schedule was finalised on the Tuesday of Semi final week in 2022. I have a faint whiff of Collingwood being railroaded into the Saturday PF if GWS win through because of the travel factor…

FWIW I think Port win because GWS’ EF performance may have been inflated by the mood of the St Kilda group following the Membrey news not to mention Port monstered them last time out and were solid for 3/4’s v Brisbane.
Just caught a clip of Gil talking about this very thing at some presser he must have done yesterday. Rooting for Port now if that moron is thinking of ****ing over the minor premier for the benefit of 7th placed GWS

It was a low possession game for most of our half forwards as the ball was parked in our back 50 for a fair chunk of the match, I do t think the possession count is the standard they should get measured by.

Just throwing it out there.

Last week was the quietest game he had played for a while. Highly suspect it’s a one off but it wasn’t a good game.
He looked to be tagging Petracca or at least match up with him at centre bounces. Petracca was quiet in the first half, but so was Pendlebury with 4 possessions.

The poster to whom I responded said he began every chain of play in the 3rd from the HB line so he can't have just have been up forward most of the game. I was more measuring Lipinski by the face I rarely noticed him compared to other players and the stats were only sought because of the suggestion he may have been prolific with possessions in the 3rd.

I caught up on it as well and read it the same way. My thinking is that’s it’s both ****ed that being home on the Saturday is now a factor (wasn’t for Port), but I think we’re ok and it’s more likely they’ll charter a flight for GWS. I’m not ruling it out gaining legs today I think though it would have been picked up as a story yesterday if it was a genuine chance.

An embarrassing rumour doing the rounds that significantly disadvantages the Collingwood Football Club.

We should put our foot down and demand the Friday night Pre Lim.

I'm pretty sure we will be playing friday night, not sure where that rumour is coming from but it's garbage. The AFL want us to play Friday night

Re the timing of the game - Melbourne / Carlton have to travel to Brisbane and come home, or GWS / Port have to travel to Melbourne Saturday arvo and get home.

Ok slightly longer flight from Brisbane to Melbourne but its insignificant. If a team needs to be home in their own beds on a Saturday night, play a Satruday afternoon game, not twilight.

Brisbane should not get a bigger advantage heading to the GF, than Collingwood get, who finished 1st.

I prefer afternoon footy to night footy. Throughout the season, I would prefer we play afternoon games in the sunshine. But on this occasion, we're talking about playing in a Grand Final the following week. That extra time might be just the thing to help players get over some niggles.

I'll be wild if they move us to Saturday.

He was playing a defensive role on Petracca. It worked until half time, but Petracca is a beast. Would anyone else have done better? If someone else was playing the role, I think the only one who would have done better is Petracca.

Fair enough . I know questioning Pendles is always going to irk people so I expected some sort of backlash… Hopefully he has a role over the next few weeks. I’m sure he will. He’s still our go to man at centre clearances when the game isn’t going so well. Hopefully we are winning easily though

I would have been wondering where he was at if he hadn’t done the job on Petracca in the first half so it was a reasonable thought bubble, IMO.

Is it? I put it out there early yesterday that it was curious it hadn’t been locked in and here we stand with still nothing concrete in place. I absolutely think discussions are being had about it, but whether it’s about the date and time I’m not convinced. We’ll know in the next 24 hrs because once tonight’s match is done the winner will be informed with the travel to Brisbane.

Not so sure it would irk people. Petracca certainly cut loose in the 3rd quarter with 12 possessions, with Pendlebury still standing him at clearances. Lipinski did have 4 effective handballs and a lovely pass into the forward line to McStay in the 3rd. The player I most noticed missing and who looked totally out of sorts when he did get the ball was Daicos. Seems like players took it in turns to hog the limelight as Quaynor was unsighted in the 3rd despite the ball spending a lot of time in our defence yet played well over the game. Melbourne's forwards were abysmal.

They pretty clearly bowed to the broadcasters to have Melb v Carl tonight. It really should be the other way around, as GWS will get screwed over if they win. Collingwood should be Friday night and the broadcasters will be pushing for it too, so I can't see it not happening.

The rumour-mongers and scare merchants need to take a Bex and a lie down. The AFL doesn't announce the prelims until after the semis have been completed - there will be a press release late Saturday night.

Whilst our Friday night final is not yet locked in, it is the most likely option.

I thought the AFL were keen to have the Lions game a twilight match as the Bronco's are playing Saturday night.

Our Prelim against Swans in Sydney last year was a Saturday twilight match. Can't see why it shouldn't be the same for Lions & their opponents.

It was announced the Tuesday of SF last year (as per Edmund on SEN 2 mins ago).

If he was fully fit I'd be on board with replacing Mitchell with Nick (didn’t rate Tom's game against Dees as highly as others), just don't think we put him into that position after a lay-off and still not training fully a week out. See it either being half back or Lipinski's spot at half forward, will of course rotate through the middle in either role. If he comes up well over the next week then mid could be possible though.
That won't happen, I'm not normally not a fan of having a week off before a prelim, but in our case i think it's beneficial, Titch is pretty banged up and gives him time to get over some niggles, also gives NDaicos more time to recover and get his body to 100%, looks like he's training so much they had to turn the sprinklers on to get him off the ground. :p:D:rolleyes::)
