He kicked a good goal but showed for the rest of the game he doesn’t have skills to be a winger. People dwell on what he does wrong or what he can’t to because there’s allot of it and it’s stopping him from being an AFL standard player.

Daicos and Sidebottom are talented wingers, Poulter is mildly talented and Madgen is well bellow that.

I don’t expect that call to be made but he’s the only one who can replace De Goey’s physical presence unless we expect Carmichael to come in off the back of one so so VFL game.

I think struggling. Wouldn't be the worst thing for him to take a bit of time to get right and let things die down.

If JDG isn’t right to play I think McCreery is best suited if we want someone to be at centre bounces occasionally but be predominantly forward of the ball.
You’d reckon McCreery would need a bit of time training for those centre bounces though so I will look forward to Jen’s training reports with interest.
If we tried this option then we would probably have to look at selecting another forward or possibly a winger and tweek the current winger’s roles a tad.
If Finn Macrae is ready to run out a full game I wouldn’t mind giving him a run as I don’t think his short stints as sub have suited him.
Unlike recent years when I somewhat dreaded selection days, I am actually looking forward to them this year. I just get a feeling that coach Macrae and team are far more flexible and creative in this area than our recent past and whoever comes in will be ready to go and the team will embrace the challenge.

Agree - he has been put through the wringer and as much as I’d like us to stick to the media and select him, his mental health is more important.

Did train on monday. But I recall he played when he was sick one game off no training and just a captains run. But yeah, it wouldn't be ideal. Whether he is sick or a niggle, we'll see. But Friday is the main training session, then the captains run on saturday.

JDG should in theory have been back in training Monday. Got an extension till today. Now it’s apparently Friday. If he’s not training I’d suggest it’s more to do with how JDG is traveling rather than any directive from the club. But if he’s not traveling well enough to train, why would the club then choose to select him if he later makes himself available? Isn’t that the club looking after JDG rather than being “pathetic”?

Logical. Murph has usurped his defensive position at senior level, Kelly and McMahon are improving, and we get Dean back this week. VFL side is overloaded with tall defenders. Makes sense to start training 1 as a forward.

What a crock. JDG is an adult, he made his choices, not the club. He needs to pull on his big boy pants and own them. Elliott and Moore both went to Bali, no hint they won’t play because of the choices they made. I’ll be extremely disappointed if this results JDG not playing. But none of that disappointment will be leveled at the club. I think they’ve handled this very well given the circumstances and no doubt they continue to support him.
