Is Harrison an out, given he wasn’t technically in our selected team.

In: DeGoey
Out: Maynard (he looked really banged up)
…. Or McCreery (if he can’t recover from the corkie).

….. whoever gets dropped will be stiff.

While I have no doubt McStay is considered best 22 by McRae he's no superstar either and when you find yourself playing for a side sitting atop the ladder and coming off a dominant win I think there needs to be some selection integrity for him.

First step for McStay is to perform well tomorrow up against a lowly Frankston side with 3 wins to their name.

Do that then let's talk.

Fail to do that then another week in the VFL to find some touch can be easily justified.

I mean it depends how many minutes McStay plays. If they only want a quarter out of him what counts as a pass mark?

He'll only play some minutes. Wont play the full game imo, given the dogs game is a short turnaround. Maybe a quarter?

Going to be interesting at the selection table. Frampton is way too versatile and important to be dropped. Bringing in McStay for Frampton feels dirty and so underwhelming. It's time to make the hard decisions and we looked much better today with Frampton

You’d drop Mihocek instead?

Or maybe move Frampton back and drop Murphy?

We paid $$$ to bring McStay across as a free agent because we wanted to play 3 talls in our forward line (2 KPF and the resting ruckman)

Frampton forward is a worthy experiment, and it’s good seeing how he goes in the forward line if the worst happens and we need to rely on him. But McStay and Mihocek are the intended best 23 KPF’s, so we need to at least try McStay there to build chemistry ahead of our finals campaign.

Maybe 1 more week max for Frampton and then he’s er um, rested.

I feel having both Frampton & McStay in is like a versatile insurance if a big guy goes down - both best 23 for me.

It’ll be a mix out of above and below - good to have so many choices

Cox
Cameron
AJ
Krueger

Yep. If the plan is to play McStay against Dogs, he won't play much in the VFL and won't be picked based on form.

It's possible we hold him back one more week, but I doubt it. Frampton didn't prove much as a forward in this game (0 marks), and doesn't play the same role. Think it very likely McStay plays next week. It's the final piece to our structure.

Very, very tough selection. I’d probably go:

OUT: Harrison (from the 23), Cox/Cameron
IN: De Goey, McStay

Cameron was better tonight, but I probably prefer Cox as first ruck. Anybody getting dropped would be extremely unlucky. But I feel like the above makes us a better balanced side.
