The scum's board is an entertaining read - the delusion has completely set in after beating 4 average teams and a complacent Port who played their B side. They genuinely think they're a solid chance to knock us off, which is going to make this one even sweeter.

Proper reality check incoming for them, especially in front of a magpie army home crowd in full voice 🖤🤍🖤🤍

I watched the replay of the last Q this afternoon and I’m less confident on Bobby in relation to WHE. Unless he’s had a setback WHE will be available for selection this week and in finals I reckon he has Bobby covered…
I think we'd be eager to bring Wilbur in. Two main reason: (1) he has both pace and run (Bobby and Pat both one, not the other) (2) his aerial ability. Maybe drops more than he should, but at least gives a good contest in the air.

Looking at our midfield and high half forward mix, point (2) might be important. Other than De Goey and, being generous, Pendles, we don't have runners who are good in the air in the middle and forward of the ball. Hosk ahead of Markov and Bobby, with the latter as sub looks good to me. Hill's the sort who could perform a match winning feat, bringing him in late might be the best time for it, especially as that is often the time we are most attacking.

I don't want to be the anti Mitchell guy, but Hosk in for the slow, aerially challenged Mitchell is not a huge stretch either. He takes Adams' spot forward and Adams into the middle.

They've got the inbuilt excuses ready too though. Most now saying they would have easily had us covered without injuries 😅.

Sick on listening to every media outlet talking down or talking up how we can be beaten - yeah there are accolades as well but gee totally disrespectful and shear sign of panic from the AFL opposition w***ers.

I particularly liked how On The Couch showed Port kicking daisy cutters to their forwards, showing how it's how they potentially planned to bypass Moore/Murphy...

Reality is it was wet and if the ball wasn't slipping over the back, Moore and Murphy were putting on a spoiling master-class, hence they were trying to keep it in front of their forwards to give them a chance.

Anyway, we're the hunted. Better get used to it.

Same... Did you watch On the Couch tonight? Lyon asking if teams in the top 4 just need to spend the next 5 weeks trying to work how to beat the Pies. No one else. Nothing else. Just focus on beating Collingwood.

I think Brown (or Bucks) said well they better put some work into who else they'll play in the finals as well ...not just Collingwood.

"Couch" highlighting that Mitchell was the lowest rated player on the ground. Which rating is this? There were players with 3 and 4 disposals to his 15 and 4 tackles. Don't see how its possible. He was subbed off, so hardly fair to compare anyway.
It seems like the focus has gone onto Mitchell ever since he was subbed off during the Dockers game. He's our wombat. We know he's not fast. We don't need lots of possessions from him. He just needs to do the grunt work. We won the clearances.

Not a mention of Port's actually cooked players. I think there is a discussion to be had around Mitchell, but it's not as if he's bad. What about Wines and his 2 kicks, 11 handballs and 31m gained? That raises more than questions. No way Mitchell rates below him on any ranking. Lycett completely spudded it and Dixon looks 40yo.

Mitchell is our best inside midfielder. Some of the stuff I read is cringe

And Finlayson only had 1 kick up until halftime hadn't he? He only got his possessions after that in the ruck when Lycett went off.

And Dixon was left hobbling on one leg. Not sure in hindsight Kenneth would have chosen to take Lycett off.

Saw that. Yeah got pushed ( as Finlayson does ) too easily

I think on a dry MCG Cox is valuable as he has proven

Can’t help thinking though Frampton with height, versatility and strength might be a better bet
If Frampton plays it will be in defence where he seems to be at his best. If Cox doesn't play, I'd rather see McStay as ruck relief.

I don’t think they’ll make any changes.
It may already have been said elsewhere, but if we keep winning, we don’t have to play outside Melbourne. Our only road trip (train trip) will be to Marvel.

No changes. Leave the 23 as is for this week.

I think there is a real argument to make for Kreuger/Johnson to come in for Cox. I don't think it will happen this week, but another quiet week for Cox and the pressure will mount. Kreuger is perhaps more suited for that role and I would not be surprised if that change happens before finals.

I think it is really clear that we will run with Moore/Howe/Murphy moving forward, baring injury to any of those 3, we will not see Frampton again.

The Mitchell situation is interesting. I said it last week, now we are fully fit in that midfield, with Daicos moving in there it is putting a squeeze on for spots there. You can only really run 4 full time midfielders and I think it will be Daicos/DeGoey/Pendlebury/Mitchell as the primary 4 with Crisp playing off half back and Adams playing off half forward. The wrinkle to all of this is how good Adams is when he goes into the midfield. I could be wrong here, but from what I saw, Adams was the real game changer in that final quarter with his clearance work in the midfield. It also seemed liked Crisp played a little bit at half forward. It will will be fascinating to see how that midfield mix comes off towards finals.

Ugh, Marvel. That game scares me. Not because it's Brisbane, but because of injuries and Marvel. Sidebottom should be rested that week!

Understand the change if it's wet, but would any tall be worth bringing in if it's wet, or do we go with a small ground-level player in the wet? Dare I say it, but Ginnivan?

I guess it may depend on opposition defences and exactly how wet it's likely to be. Still need an aerial contest ahead of the ball in the wet for predictability.

If WHE was fit I'd try him in first before Ginnivan.

No changes for mine. We have no fresh injuries and continuity and chemistry are priorities at this time of the year.
Despite Carlton's string of wins, they were all against weak, or deliberately weakened, opponents. They've beaten-up the weaklings. Classic Carlton!
With some good players sidelined, their line-up looks slow and lacking X-factor, other than Curnow, who they'll target with 90% of their forward entries.
I hope we run them off their feet and give them the mother of all reality-checks.
I reckon DeGeoy will play a blinder, with Nick Daicos having to settle for just the two Brownlow votes. Poor fella.
