Was pretty disappointed with Grundy today, felt like he didn’t want it enough. With all the talk about his contract and potentially having lost his spot in the ones I would have liked more desperation today.

Do we consider resting some players…I think Nick Daicos could do with a week off. We don’t want to be copping any injuries from here on in….perhaps Moore as well.
3 weeks from finals and a massive chance at top 4 and you want to rest plahers 😂😂😂

Just read Fly’s press conference and Howe might be OK to play. With Checkers and Grundy also available there are going to be some unlucky players.
Hopefully Adams’ scan is also good news, could be hitting finals with our strongest team.

For his Raptor style attack and tackle on Boak he remains. And remains all year.

The kid is a beast. And is only limited by his own selflessness.

Those who don’t understand will never be able to understand why he is needed.

There is no one who can do what McCreery does. No one. Not on our list. Anyways.

I understand what his role is but you have to impact the scoreboard. When you've seen us lose as many grand finals as I have, you know one of the reasons is that we always have players like McCreery who don't do enough or impact enough. He needs to add more strings to his bow, purely and simply

Ok, coach...

Defensive forwards are so important in football today especially the way we play. Look at Carlton last night when Adelaide put so much time into Saad. Look at Essendon last week when Hind had less than 300 metres gained with McCreery on his hammer as opposed to 600 plus the three previous weeks. He is only a 2nd year player like Ginnivan and will have ups and downs but has to be in our best side. Henry got omitted because we had a like for like replacement , so we drop McCreery for who ?. Remember the two previous players to play that role and very poorly were Callum Brown and Blair.

I thought Saad had a blinder last night. Brown and Blair suffer from the same thing beau does and that is a lack of scoreboard pressure, all 3 are good pressure players

To be fair, neither of those guys are even in the same stratosphere as Beau in regards to pressure.
I do agree that he needs to continue to improve his offensive game though. He needs to get cleaner below his knees.

Saad was alright, but his direct opponent in Keays had an absolute night out. 3 goals, 4 goal assists and 21 touches playing as a defensive half-forward is a huge effort.

However, Sam Docherty made Saad look like a star. Docherty was abysmal

From Queens birthday, the changes in teams will likely be:

Out - Adams, Henry
In - Carmichael, AJ

Assuming Mihocek will play and Grundy won’t.

Daicos had 33 and Mihocek kicked 4. I think this was Mihoceks last game before he got injured.

Interestingly, we lost Center clearances 14 - 7. However, we won stoppage clearances 27 - 14.

We also took 18 - 7 contested marks.

It looks like May will be playing this week unless someone makes a reservation for him at Entrecôte tonight.

Are your eyes painted on. Are you not watching the past 10 games and what dynamic the Cameron and Cox combination has brought. Those marks are a very valuable commodity. These two boys have nearly averaged 10 per those games. And that is something that Grundy can’t do. And nor can he clear the contest with a tap over the top. His strengths aren’t things we need. Not if we want to keep winning.

He has never shown he can take telling defensive marks. His only attribute is he can tap to himself and get meaningless dump clearances. That the opposition read and cost us conga line goals.

So no thank you. I’m happy with our current 10-0 winning combination. And I suspect fly is also. That’s why he brought DeGoey straight in. And went Grundy the clearances king to the Magoos. That shows how much he rates his ruck craft.

And that’s where he’ll be come this coming weeks game against the Dreamons. No chance of displacing the other boys.

Degoey out for three weeks, Grundy out for 3 months.

Grundy was an AA ruckman over Gawn, his best is scintillating…but what you’re telling me is that unless a ruckman can take grabs in the forward or back half then he’s useless….I think this is less a reflection on Grundy and more on our list structure that we rely on our ruckman to also kick the goals…

Grundy back to his best is key for us, the coach said it so I don’t know what you’re rambling about. Cox didn’t take any contested marks yesterday according to the stats, has hardly been lighting it up. You’ve lost the plot.

Pies should send the Melbourne players a complimentary dinner voucher that expires this week

Blinder? They got beaten easily by a bottom team and he did not get in their best 6. Brown and Blair were good pressure players, yeah right. Neither could hold a tackle and had no physical presence whatsoever. McCreery replacing Callum Brown is one of many reasons why we have improved.

Whaaaat? The broken tackle specialists can’t hold a candle to McReery who’s the most technically correct tackler since Rioli. It’s no use chasing arse if the opposition will break the tackle once you catch them. No way Blair or Brown do what McReery did to Ward, twice. On a side note it was good to see Ginnivan bring something to the table other than distractions this week!

Happens, all over the globe in all sports.

It’s called good management and human psychology. Now that finals are sorted, players will play within themselves so they are right for finals. This is why Swan didn’t win the Brownlow twice, we let the foot off the peddle and lost to an unfancied team in the final round.

So in a way you could be better off playing hungry players eager to prove themselves, as opposed to established players who know there is more at stake.

Melbourne, Sydney and Carlton will all have something to play for. They will be bruising contests and it would be horrifically bad if we lost Adams orHowe types in any of those games. Within 4 weeks of finals it’s tough to recover in time.

Chill bro, you seem a bit tense this morning. We all have opinions and i'm happy with mine

Melbourne syd, Carlton all have something to play for? We dont? History shows top 4 teams end up in the GF. Worst case we still want 5th so as to avoid any away games against the interstate mobs first up

This won’t be happening. There is now a bye before finals for a rest. Brisbane, Melbourne and us all have games against teams whose seasons are alive. None of these teams will be resting players. I think we are probably down to 28 players to pick from for the remainder of the season in the thoughts of the team selectors.

6 day break also… I’m not saying I think it will happen. I’m saying that’s what I would do. For me a much worse scenario, noting we have an injury prone list and youngsters carrying a load, is to make finals with key players out. We are no certainty of a top 4 spot even with our best players playing.

We will not be favourites to win the flag, I think taking a bit of gamble to put us in the best possible position is what we should be doing. From my perspective that means having your best players playing in finals…fit and rested.
