McMahon can still play a role in the side, and in a far more disciplined manner than either Atley or McDonald at the moment. He was more than solid in our best game last season against Hawthorn. He adds a certain level-headed-ness that we've been lacking in defence this season.

You all have short memories. Remember losing to the Lions last season, then McMahon came in and everyone had a melt.... and we beat the Hawks?

He can play a role no doubt.

Its not the worst move in the world.

Personally I would have had him in for Spud (a favourite of mine but he was ordinary on Sunday) and given Atley another chance. I actually liked him as the sub against Essendon, looking at this team there's no obvious choice for it and will probably end up being Dumont again, which is tactically about as idiotic as it gets.

It would be interesting to see a heat map or something similar to see how close to the boundary line we have played this season...when you win you don't notice but when you lose its ouch.
Gimme a game and I'll try and upload it.

Well done McMahon on getting back I say. We wanted a statement, and got one!!!!! Atley got what was coming!! At least Loose can kick. Heck, he even used to play forward so we can mix it up a bit if need be..... That would be a change!!!

It's true that McMahon is unlikely to be on the list next season (although you never know) but if we are using an inform older player to help send a message to complacent young blokes, then so be it. Nothing wrong with that at all.

As far as a slow backline is concerned, I'd rather a slow one with good decision making and disposal, to a fast one that can't find the ball. Atley had 3 kicks last week if I am not mistaken.

But but but he runs all day and he has been warned ! He will wake up on Sunday and miraculously be the best kick in the comp... :D
He is our out on the full specialist. How else will the oposition get the ball back if he is not in the team??

Calling it now, late change

OUT
Brown

IN
Daw
It could easily be the case, but I'm through with these late changes too. I honestly don't know how a player can cope with being an emergency. How do you expect to play well when the team has been training with a different setup? I just don't understand why the club can't just return to the traditional approach of making decisions on fitness on Thursday. If you are not right on Thursday, then you take an extra week to get fully over it. Give the back up players a chance to get themselves ready.

will be cringeworthy watching Gibson, Firrito, McMahon and to a lesser extent Macmillan being liabilities on sunday.

At least reward Daw for his great form this year
How many liabilities can u play in one team?
Of the top of my head with the current ins i'd say at least 7 players ..

How Gibson doesn't make this list is amazing.

He is a complete hack who harps on about how good he can run. If that's all he can do, go piss off and join an Athletics club because were a Football team.
Does not know how to play. No good in getting 30 touches if you turn it over frequently, it's actually working against us.

o_O
Sorry I disagree. I've never heard Sam Gibson speak on anything. But I've seen him running and performing crucial roles to help win games such as against Essendon this year and again in the final last year. He stays, even with the clangers. If the game is in the balance in the 4th, he'll still be working his backside off.

Its a joke McMahon is even on our list after signing a 3 year extension just to play VFL basically that whole time but why the hell would we play him ahead of mullet ? he might be a little underdone but at least mullet has a future! McMahon will be delisted at the end of the season! im glad luke and atley are out but we still have gibson, bastinac , firrito in the team and those 3 i dont think can take us forward and would be happy to have all 3 off our list at the end of the year.

Season Map apparently.

So you would give Atley another chance off near 18mths of average/terrible form, and Spud has one shocker and he's straight out?

Sure there is the age factor but that makes little sense to me when we are lacking reliable and strong players as it is.

Betting the sub will be Dumont or Basti.

Daw very stiff, the man can't do much more than what he's doing. Hopefully Jacobs plays in the middle.

If Dumont is sub I may well just walk out of the ground on Sunday.

And i'm close to being serious, would be a disgraceful move if we select that...
