What's with all this drop JT stuff?
He still manages to find clutch goals and scoreboard impact when we need it, he can get up the ground in midfield chains and is reliable ball in hands.

He was unfortunate to be caught an couple of times against Saad of all players who is electric with foot speed but he is best 22 easily.

He shouldn't and won't be dropped.

Tough to pick changes this week. We controlled the game really well for a quarter and a half then our midfield and clearance game let us down and we had to rely on defensive efforts.

In theory the ones most at risk are fringe players that can be replaced by Elliott and Aish, and that's Varcoe, Brown, Thomas and Greenwood. I don't think WHE can get dropped after one game.

Greenwood, whilst not being well suited to the small defender role, did really well in the last quarter. His effort to spoil the Essendon corridor kick and follow up to drive the ball forward was great. And one piece of play that isn't getting enough love is his tackle on Saad after Crisp turned it over – 9 out of 10 players would have let that one slip through and without his tackle they would have gone in counter attack with a huge change to score a last minute winning goal.

Varcoe was quiet but I can see the need for his speed and forward pressure against Port's fast handballing game. The one I think should legitimately get dropped for Elliott is actually Thomas. Great goal but the rest of his game was poor, lack of awareness and a bit arrogant to be honest.

Perhaps we could go:
OUT: Thomas, Brown
IN: Elliott, Aish

Greenwood takes Brown's forward/mid spot, Aish Greenwood's spot in defence and Elliott like for like with Thomas.

I can't believe what I'm seeing
Are you talking about Dazzling Beams 2012
Or
Concrete Boots Beams 2019
Daniel Wells.
yes I’m a fan
Daniel Wells is 34yo..
I think that he may be managed for the time being.
I watched him play last week
Some promising signs.
But unless it was finals I don’t see the need of rushing him yet.

I agree. I was just suggesting that no-one is likely to be dropped for applying a lack of pressure - our pressure was superb.
Ok ,after watching 1st qtr replay ,i retract earlier opinion ,Thomas and Varcoe were better than i thought . So don't know who goes out for Billy ?

Yeah, agree. I've since revised my due date for Wells in the seniors to the week after, given next week would be a 6 day break and require playing on Marvel... Let's bring him out on the G v Carlton.

So only change for me then - In: Elliott, Out: Brown (with Jordy spending more time in the midfield).

Then in the next 2-3 weeks getting to full strength by bringing in Wells and Sier, and taking out Varcoe and Greenwood.

We could pick 8-9 players out of this match.
JT was not alone.
Let’s face it. Beams & Cox are not going to get dropped.

I agree that this would mean our probable strongest 22 out on the park but who plays as the 7th back?

In: Elliot, Wills

Out: Brown, Greenwood

Can't believe how many people want Aish back in. Bloke adds very little

Your team would be a small defender short unless you want Adams or Varcoe to go back. Though I agree Aish hasn't added much, in the absence of Appleby and with Quaynor still learning we don't have much to go with in that spot so he comes back in.

I haven’t watched a second of port this year are they still slow?

Either way I’d bring Elliot in if fit, take Brown out.

Can see a nice cruise control victory against another front running midfield incoming

Why the hell does every one think Sier will instantly fix our clearance issues? He was struggling to get a clearance in the 2's lol.

It’s amazing how much reputation grows when someone isn’t playing.

I think we’re better with Sier than without but he’s far from a walk up start and his inflexible style and fitness has him a fair way back in modern football imo. Imagine Sier being stuck on the ground for 10-12 minutes because he can’t get to the bench.

Brown did enough. greenwood added nothing. Hate to say it as I am a fan but except for the goal Thomas was ordinary. From my observation cost at least 2 goals .

Assuming Aish is good to go likewise Cox, for me.

In Aish Elliott

Out Greenwood Thomas.

It was a great goal, but his decision to kick it checkside was quite bizarre.

Depending on the opponents we might not need the extra defender.
Roughead and Moore (talls), Langdon and Howe (mids) and Crisp and Maynard (smalls) makes 6 defenders already.
