He did (after a less than ideal preparation) but then went back and had a BOG performance in the SANFL.Visentini looked overwhelmed when he played a couple weeks ago. Give him some time in the SANFL to build, he's not ready.
Lord for Dixon or Hayes forward and providing a ruck chop-out if Lycett comes back is the better shout.
Finlayson does better up forward than in ruck so freeing him up forward is a priority, especially with no Dixon. He did (after a less than ideal preparation) but then went back and had a BOG performance in the SANFL.
The other option is Lord, who has shown glimpses in his AFL games and enough in his AFL games to be persisted with, but on the flip side has been quiet in the SANFL and is coming off suspension.
Probably comes down to structure and how we want to use Finlayson. Do we want to bring in a forward and ruck Finlayson, or play 2 rucks and free up Finlayson to play forward.
This is still what I’d run with given the reported outs.Out: Rioli, McKenzie, Dixon
In: Duursma, Pasini, Lord
Narkle sub again.
Not opposed to trying Evans in Rioli’s place if the club feels Duursma needs one more week at SANFL level.
Fast mobility is the key factor in winning teams in final contention this season. And the ability to maintain forward pressure (Port has won the tackle count in almost every game this season btw).Probably comes down to structure and how we want to use Finlayson. Good call. I feel Collingwood is crazy fast. I don't think they have that many KP players.Fast mobility is the key factor in winning teams in final contention this season. And the ability to maintain forward pressure (Port has won the tackle count in almost every game this season btw).
Fair call. The top teams are playing run and gun footy, they spread super fast from the contest, Essendon killed the crows in this respect.Fast mobility is the key factor in winning teams in final contention this season. No way in hell Port will play 2 recognised rucks, especially against Carlton.
Bulldogs dropping Lobb to focus on English and Melbourne dropping Grundy to focus on Gawn is an example of current thinking.
Having one recognised ruckman who can work for 80% of the game and has the mobility to handle the pressure stuff and having a tall forward to handle the ruckwork up forward is what makes sense imho.
Would say
In: Lycett, Lord, Jonas, Duursma, Narkle
Out: Hayes, Dixon, McKenzie, JHF, Rioli
If this is true then the treatment of Narkle is bordering on bizarre. He's been impactful every time he's taken the field for us but keeps getting dropped for spuds.Mead training with 1s, Narkle with 2s, so maybe swap Narkle for Mead.
It's dangerous to flirt with form, but imo we aren't really 'in form'. If we effectively tank a game to get some rest into sore boys I don't mind that much tbh.
I'm all for big changes for game day thread piss blasting.
I'm still giggling at the thought of Marshall slipping over on Dixon's piss blasts last Saturday.plus getting some game time into the next tier.
I've missed a few game day threads so I'm looking for Saturday's game.
We've copped it most weeks. Home or away doesn't matter. We're definitely copping it from the umpires this week. Will need to be 3-4 goals better than them to win the game.
