This is why North made a big deal of JHF's ice bath sessions

Ice baths don't actually have science backing them up.

Worst case scenario, we lose to all of 50/50 or thereabouts games to Collingwood/Crows/Cats. Which means we need to win all of the other 4 most likely to finish top 2, which we are favorites for. We drop one or two of the games we are favoured to win, and we lose all breathing space.

Why would you rest players for the one game we simply have to win to lock in that top 2 spot.
We've got plenty more games we can lock in top 2 spot with, and with the way the bottom half of the eight keep falling over each other we might already have done it.

I'm all for resting up against Carlton, the Collingwood / Adelaide games the following weeks are much bigger deals, and hell I'd really like to roll down to Kadinia Park and best that mob too. No reason our seconds can't beat Carlton anyway.

If Dixon is out lord has come in and played well enough in the past so happy for him to slot straight in.
Duursma back is a big boost on the wing and hopefully runs into some form.
If jhf needs a rest I would without a question. No need to push him to breaking point now.
Out
Dixon jhf rioli Hayes McKenzie
In
Lord Lycett Mead duursma Jonas

Narkle sub

Jonas most probably know that this is his last chance.
If he fails its could be his last game

Lycett and Duursma are actually improvements.

Mead on sanfl form probably earns a spot.

We still win the midfield.

We have 2 A Grade forwards.

Our back 6 hold up.

It's Carlton.

Expect to win.
Duursma, does not look ready for the fast deck at docklands.
I would give him a few more in the SANFL (where he has not been in the best players).

The Horne has been playing hurt, he has a crook back

The best strategy would be making sure we win the ones we should definitely win, throwing a game against Carlton seems odd to me. the final 3 games seem a little easier, maybe we can rest then if top 2 is already stitched up. right now it would be stupid to rest players. One loss to Carlton could easily to lead to a streak of losses.

I'm not sure any of the outs really suggest throwing the game as opposed to resting players ready to give us the best possible chance next week though. Dixon looks cooked, shouldn't have played last week. McKenzie is an out anyway, might as well give TJ a chance to bash some people, see if he's up to it next week. JHF I suppose is a bit dubious but if a week off let's him come out firing for 1st vs 2nd next week then I'm all for it.

JHF droppable in actuality since the bye. Cameos at best. He would be a pretty tired kid. Not as if hes some bruise free winger. Coming off no pre-season and major surgery too. Surprised he has played as much as he has.

And he gets clobbered every game with no protection from the umpires.

I actually think we’ll drop 3 of the next 4 games
Is that you Kane Cornes.

Having said that, he probably said that knowing we were gonna lose Dixon, Lycett etc. For a while
