Nicks mentioned Butts has been carrying a shoulder injury for a while. Sounds like Keane was good reading the sanfl thread.
Lol we are two weeks into the season and he’s played all the games.
Why the hell wasn’t this fixed in the off-season?

Port struggle with key forwards due to a lack of key defenders, Burton out is a loss due to his versatility.

Their running defenders are DBJ, Farrell, Houston and Burgoyne.

Given Gollants goal kicking form I think it we need to get him in.

Himmelberg should play defence and I’d have on Dixon.

So our 4 tallish forwards could be Tex, Fog, TT and Gollant. Surrounded by Rankine, Keays and Pedlar.

The key will be the midfield. We need to at least not get flogged in there and if we can break even great. But we have to put them under frantic pressure, if we allow their mids to waltz out of there we will be ****ed.

I’m replacing Murphy with Gollant. Murphys so called pressure was non exisitant.

Out: Parnell, Murphy, Schoenberg/Berry
In: Gollant, Milera, Taylor. If Milera isn’t up to it, Cook.

Schoenberg and Berry have sucked. One of them should pay the price, we can’t risk carrying 2 mids in this game.

He was rushed back when his knee wasn't fully healed. Every game from the trial match onwards he has looked lame. Not sure why he played but I suspect it was Slone chasing another contract. He was cooked before he did his knees so in hindsight it would have been best for both parties if he retired last year.

Nicks can't play an injured player who can't run. How would that make another fit squad member feel that a cooked bloke on one leg is being chosen over you? If Nick's continues to play him he needs to be fired earlier than I suspect he will be. I believe Sloane, Smith and Keays all need to be moved out of the AFL side. They aren't the future and if they are playing them to improve our games played numbers that's on list management. I'm tired of parts of the club covering up the for the incompetence of list management. Roo must go this year along with Nicks.

Sloane knew that getting back for the practice matches and round 1 guaranteed his selection all year. Had he started in the 2s he would have had to play well and risk getting stuck there. He's not stupid.

He’s definitely sore though, how long will they pretend it’s not impacting his footy? They should plan on giving him some rests, but his replacement could outperform him. After the weekends game, unless Sholl has a form slump, there’s no way you can justify playing Sloane ahead of him on the wing.

This could have all been sorted last year by the club. Now he will most likely finish up like Thommo in the SANFL. The club could have used his spot for another key defender or ruck. If he keeps playing injured he will likely sustain a career ending injury as anyone can see that his body won't stand up to the rigors of AFL for more than half a season. A player needs to know when it time to call it quits but sometimes that decision needs to be taken out of their hands. The club has had a problem telling certain players it's time. Daniel Talia was an exception.

hinge rolls back to cover Parnell. Gives the coaches some breathing space to avoid making a Sholl/Hinge call just yet. Sloane would be more likely to start talking publicly about an extension than he would be talking to coaches about a rest.

Hot Take: I thought Sloane was one of only two or three Crows players who realised when GWS were cooked in Round 1. Particularly noticeable in the lead up to the Rachele goal late in that match when he took on multiple opponents to start a counter attack.

Granted it came after a terrible 3rd quarter and start of the 4th, and merely an OK first half... But there's still something there that other players lack.

They will want to bring in Milera, so Milera will replace Parnell. They can’t drop Sholl after that game.

Career ending injury? His contact end this year and highly doubtful he will get another contract so you wanted us to get him to retire and also pay out his final year of the contract?

Talia still played out his last year poorly on his torn meniscus, we don't make these calls in-season. Thommo was a political extension and an absolute gift because we were too weak to delist him after he's spent the year talking about how he felt great and wanted to go on. He also played out his effective final year as a starting player, even when he could no longer run.

he could have handed back the captaincy and done a more comprehensive rehab and been happy to return in the 2s and lead the kids down there. Now we're stuck with him in the 1s all year. I actually thought he'd return in good nick after a year of not being bashed, but it looks like something might not be quite right.

Or he could have just retired and told his employer you don't need to pay me for the year lol. Would you do that for your employer if they said you would demoted if you can't return back after 12 months of leave......

you're the one offering that up, I never said he should quit and forego any of his contract, he's entitled to the full amount. He was demoted from the captaincy anyway and it's a team sport, where it's more about what's best for just him. And he's a supposed leader with the best interests of the club at heart, he could have shown he's about more than just himself. It's not the same as whatever workplace you spend your time in.

I think the club would have happily paid him out in full if he retired last year. I think they should have told him the chances of a recontact renewal were very slim and 2023 would be his final year. Maybe they did tell him that and he said he wants the opportunity to prove them wrong. In any event the club should have taken the initiative and said we are willing to pay you for not playing and to save yourself all the effort in fast tracking the rehab of a serious injury. The problem is that by being on our list they will play him injured because they can't make a tough decision. It sums the club up that sentiment is more important than winning.

make him coach you reckon?

Out:-
Gameplan that relies on us not changing up the centre square when we are getting beaten until the very end of the quarter

In:-
Changing up a losing centre square by trying anything and not waiting until the oppo has banged on 4 or 5 unanswered goals...roll fog for a couple of CBA'S to intimidate, roll dawson there, try rucking tex for a couple of centre bounces..whatever..just don't keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result..it aint working right now
Real estate - location, location, location

Footy - coaching coaching coaching

If we were real estate we'd be buying out the back of Wingfield dump on a stinking hot day with a howling northerly.

Disappointing our 2 best wings won’t be playing wing - Dawson/ Hinge

It is good to have Sholl though and good that he took his chance
