Not much of a home ground advantage when half of Sydney's team have played less than 10 games on said home ground.

They have some young and experienced players but they also have some absolute guns. Anybody who thinks it will be easy are in for a shock.

I have heard a lot of people in the media refer to us being absolutely horrible last week. This is true in a sense that the last quarter we were over run and we didn't make use of our opportunities in front of goal BUT apart from that we were all over Richmond for a good part of the game and should have had the game iced.

Sydney on the other hand were no better against the Dogs than we were the week before and lost to Port and have a very young side. It is Buddy's 250th but I would think the pressure is on them a lot more than us as at home it is expected they win.

We are a good chance tonight for a win I think. Treloar BOG.

The standard of the Swans V Dogs game was far higher than our game.

The Swans are obviously young, but they still have a solid midfield with Kennedy, Hannebery, Parker and Jack.

They then have Reid and Franklin forward, and some decent defenders. There's enough firepower there to trouble us.

A lot will be made about their inexperience, but I think the real test for Sydney is how the senior guys play. They were all very quiet last week, and pretty disappointing the week before as well.

If Hannebery and Parker in particular can find some form then the Swans are pretty dangerous. Especially when you have Buddy in the sort of form he was in last week. Basically just have to get the ball in his vicinity.

Our midfield really needs to step up. I'd be putting Greenwood on Kennedy and absolutely sitting on him. He is the biggest threat for me.

I agree. The contrast was staggering.

Perhaps a bit had to do with the fact that we were playing on a very gusty night at the MCG while that game was under a closed roof at Etihad. I'm hoping that is the case anyway. But the Swans didn't look slow or off the pace at all. They kept up with the Dogs and really troubled them. This is despite the fact that they were one man short all night once Tippett got injured.

They have a 6 day break and would've felt pretty heavy in the legs after that game. Especially for the 3 debutants who hare backing up. So this is a test for Sydney.

But you can't have watched our match and then their match, and come away thinking we should win this game. The Swans played at a much higher level.

We need to improve a heck of a lot this week if we are going to win.

Sydney do have a lot of cream on top but often it is the 15th-22nd depth players that makes the difference. Over half their side has played under 40 games and if they start making mistakes then like we saw last week it can be contagious.

Totally agree. If we can get away to a good start we will have a real chance. I think it will be a single figure margin either way.

Their guns are not firing. Franklin kept them in last weeks game. Take him out and the lose by 40+.

Parket, Hanneberry and Jack look to be carrying injuries.

Franklin, Kennedy and Reid are their only guns firing.

I hope you are correct, form can turn around pretty quickly though.

Not sure the thinking it will be easy, more, that in the aftermath of the Tigers game it was hard to see beyond us being 0-3 after tonight. Since then the Swans have lost another match, lost players and now have a very inexperienced side.

Mood I am getting is we now see ourselves as a real chance to win if we play well.

Some posters suggesting that Bucks should go if we lose tonight. Sound reasonable?

Agree but that's a week to week thing also. The contrast is no where near as big if you compare the round 1 Coll v Dogs and the round 2 Swans v Dogs. Those matches were similar and if anything we let the Dogs in with our own sloppiness whereas the Swans were beaten by the better side. They were not the architect of their own demise which we were in some ways.

All adds up to a match we are a chance to win tonight but only if we play well.

I have to disagree about this higher level of play. The Dogs creamed them in the last quarter when they fell behind. There is something wrong with the Dogs complacency. In the game against us The Dogs had a 30 point lead twice. The first time we came back and hit the lead. The second time, we got within 15 looked like hitting the lead again if the game didn't finish. The Dogs did the same thing against Sydney.. They got out to a healthy lead, Franklin got Sydney in front and then the Dogs absolutely torched them. It seemed to me the Dogs were cruising in that game, and if you look at the Dogs of 2016 they never won games by huge margins of the GWS/Adelaide/West Coast style wins. They are a team that seems to play with complacency.

Yeah point taken, there are contrasting views but the main feel I get is what you are also saying, we are a show here but need to play well.

There's really no excuses tonight..

I want to see Bucks given the opportunity to coach a full team. If we can stay healthy, then we get Elliott and Wells back in the next fortnight and he may finally be in a position to coach a full strength side. (I knocked on wood as I posted).

That's when I want to judge him. If he can never get that full squad together, then the writing is on the wall for him because I think we lack a bit of depth this year.

Don't they have 8 or so players under 40 games? If we can't win this.. i really don't know what to say.

We have seven players under 40 games. Not much of a difference is there?

Seriously though.. when has that ever happened. Who hasnt got an injury list. I must admit we've been hit harder than most.. but there's a lot of players that have played a decent amt of games under him that haven't really progressed to a good consistent level.

I think Sidebottom Pendlebury Swan.. they haven't been at their best under him either.

Then you have those who have played under him that are no longer at the club that were well below par under him.

Far too many players experienced and inexperienced have played well below par under him.

If you drill down further there is a big difference.

Someone posted this earlier -

Sydney:
0-10 games 7
11-20 games 2
21-30 games 2
31-40 games 1

Collingwood:
0-10 games 1
11-20 games 1
21-30 games 3
31-40 games 2

It's a big difference for sure. Let's hope it translates into a win for us.

So who goes to Buddy?

Think Schade will have the first crack with Reid on Reid. The Sack may be an option though as Buddy isn't a big contested marker. Also think that Howe could get a crack at some point but feel he may be a better playing a bit more loose and intercepting in front of Sam Reid and Buddy.
