Yeah.. f’ed if I know really.... why get frampton in at all AND at the same time on a 3 year contract, if we arent gonna play him.

another one of those just unexplainable decisions that this club has been famous for in recent times...
Club still needed to prop the SANFL team up. And ROB was really the only genuine ruckman we had on the list. Didn't see much to be enthused about going forward with Strachan against North

Right now, Himmelberg is looking like our best young KPF.
  • Walker is on the verge of retirement
  • Fog's career is going nowhere fast - unless he can drop several kgs, improve his agility/endurance/mobility, and get himself to an AFL fitness standard.
  • Strachan is a stringbean, who will never have enough muscle to compete at AFL level.
  • Frampton is useless.
There is very little chance of us cutting the only young KPF who is actually showing promising signs of development.
If Himmelberg is the best we’ve got.. because all of a sudden he’s decided to play two decent games of AFL football in 4 years... then we desperately need that compo pick for Bcrouch and we need to get mcdonald and thilthorpe.

then we need to get rid of Frampton somehow... but it aint happenning unsomeone else wants him and we pay most of his salary.

dump strachen (spelling??).. easy enough.

i dont know.. I guess I havent bought into this “himmelbergs our best young KPD” yet.. its only two ****in games ffs.

did very little in his last game and lets see what he brings in the next few weeks..

That's 2 more good games than Frampton, Strachan & Fogarty have played between them this year. Yes, it's setting a low bar - but the others are all doing the limbo, and going under the bar with whole feet to spare.

Personally I am one that thinks Frampton can play and with confidence would put some big body aggression into our FWD line and was surprised Berg got the nod couple of weeks ago which he grabbed to play much better than in past.
Berg has few weeks to win a contract.

Have you had a look at him? Did you see him play the other week?

It was his first game in a mauling & he hasn't really had an extended crack in the ruck in the SANFL which is his natural position. He did toward the end of last year and strung together a few nice games.

Tim English more than holds his own.

Exactly the same profile.

FWIW, I think you're better off with Fogarty out of the goal square ala Tom Hawkins rather than needing to play higher. Fog has the motor of a Datsun.

From what the coach mentioned the other day, sounds like Fogarty will be in the fat camp group this preseason

The best position for Fogarty is the treadmill in the gym. He's of no use whatsoever until he can at least build the motor of a Commodore.

You, and otherhere, are missing my whole point though..

frampton and Fog are... wait for it......

C-o-n-t-r-a-c-t-e-d.

they aren’t going anywhere.. and even suggesting himmilberg is anywhere near comparable to Fog is simply ridiculous. Fog has just come back from a 6 or so week injury in these current covid ****ed times and is out of form.. It is utterly ludicrous some people here are piling on him at the moment.

come the end of the year (and especially if lists numbers have to be reduced) Himmilberg is toast.. unless he can pull something miraculous out of his arse in the remaining games.

we bring in another tall forward, or maybe even two, and we have to dump a couple of the current ones we have

Himmelberg's name won't even come up when the list management team meets to decide the 2021 list. He'll be offered a new contract, no problem at all.

We have Hartigan, Poholke, Atkins, Mackay, Gallucci and Knight all out of contract as well - and all of those would be ahead of him in the delist pile. Then there's Gibbs and Walker, who will hopefully be paid out and retired, despite both being contracted for next year. Wilson, Strachan and Crocker will probably be gone too, but they're all on the rookie list, so we're not exactly comparing apples with apples.

Stengle, McAdam, Brouch, Himmelberg, Keays and (maybe) Taylor (as a project player) are the only currently uncontracted players who should/will be on our list in 2021.

We're not delisting the only young forward who has shown ANYTHING this year, simply because he's the only one who's out of contract. Not. Going. To. Happen.

But that's not going to happen in the next few weeks.

Give Fog the 50 as an achor, clear the rest out bar a small forward or two in McAdam and see how they go one on one.

Fog doesn't need to get super fit as I doubt Tom Hawkins is, but he just needs AFL standard fitness to play a similar role, which he is no where near at the minute.

Asking him to play higher up the ground is ridiculous.

So where is the ruck depth coming from?

The issue is our midfield is so diabolical they have zero ability to win the ball, so it inevitably ends up in our back half where we have no other way of winning the ball other than overwhelming with numbers by pushing all our forwards up and/or hoping Doods can take an intercept mark. But the issue is we don't have the speed to push back like we used to, Tex and Fog are as slow as me and Murphy isn't smart enough to get loose from his man the way Betts could and always gets outmarked when we inevitably bomb it down. Add to that we have zero confidence or ability to hit targets anymore. We had senior blokes like Tex, Sloane and Kelly missing targets by huge margins while under no pressure last week and it just consistently kills opportunities to get plays going.

We put so little defensive pressure on the opposition can comfortably leave the spare back to cut off any attacks we do attempt and still win the battle further up the field as well.
