Oliver will play.
If he does who is our Steven Kretiuk this week and targets that thumb.
Not sure about hitting his thumb, but I’d like to see Dunks go head to head with him.

Love the optimism, however we dominated St Kilda for 3 quarters last week and if they had kicked straight we would have lost. Melbourne are a far superior side to St Kilda so if we have even an off 15 mins we are toastIt's strange to think we were about four goals up during the second quarter of our most recent match against the Dees.
I say strange because the Dees were playing a lot better at the start of the season than what they've been playing recently. And let's face it, we have been far from impressive this season and we are yet to put together four quarters of solid footy.
I therefore think if we can play four quarters of relentless footy, we will win this. I say that knowing full well how unlikely it is that will play four quarters of good footy.
If the same Melbourne of the past six weeks turn up, perhaps we will get away with playing a poor to average quarter and still be able to win...
An off 15 minutes is almost a guarantee. If we only have a poor 15 mins it's a lot more likely than not that we win. I'd take 65 minutes of good, solid footy any day of the week. You know the opposition is unlikely to match that same level so you're likely to win 75-80% of matches if you're playing a high level of footy for the majority of the match.Love the optimism, however we dominated St Kilda for 3 quarters last week and if they had kicked straight we would have lost. Baz is your man for that sort of thing. Not sure about hitting his thumb, but I’d like to see Dunks go head to head with him.
The problem with that theory is that our good footy, means a grinding low scoring period with multiple missed shots on goal and a general struggle to score. Most oppositions good footy against us is 10 mins of carving us up from go to woe putting 7 unanswered goals on the board. An off 15 minutes is almost a guarantee. It's as rare as a blue moon these days to see a team play good footy for 80% of a match.
Melbourne are very unlikely to play solid footy from go to woe so it's going to come down to which team can capitalise the most.

I get where you’re coming from but we cant claim we should have beaten Carlton/Tigs thenWrong... this has been done to death
Pretty sure we were 17 points up against them the previous time we played also. Therapy has been successful so can't remember too much beyond thatIt's strange to think we were about four goals up during the second quarter of our most recent match against the Dees.

19 and fluffed what should have been a 25 point leadPretty sure we were 17 points up against them the previous time we played also. Therapy has been successful so can't remember too much beyond that
Oh yeah. Therapy has been even better than I thought....19 and fluffed what should have been a 25 point lead
Haven't seen much of Toby playing this year (just a few minutes in the VFL) but from what I have seen of Cody he is NOT playing for high contact free kicks, well certainly not like he did for a while last year. Somebody might have had a quiet word with him.I guess why Bevo is not happy as we do have a few players that get regular free kicks for high tackles, Cody, Hunter, Toby, and Jacko. To be fair I think Cody and Toby to draw free kicks by dropping their knees but not other 2 and now they probably do not get they deserve. Obviously Bevo would not use those 2 as an example so he used Selwood. I think it is a waste of energy and a distraction Bevo cannot win and there is nothing to gain except Bevo being labelled a whinger.
All that counts Bevo is win this week.
It was just a shit call too, it’s not changing the interpretation - it already was the interpretation it just hasn’t been adjudicated correctly, plus it is not being harder at the ball and it should not be rewarded. The only way to stamp it out is for the umps to start disadvantaging the players that do itI guess why Bevo is not happy as we do have a few players that get regular free kicks for high tackles, Cody, Hunter, Toby, and Jacko. Or maybe he’s just right. Reward those who play the ball and if they score a few frees through forcing the clumsy/inappropriate tackle, so be it. The player hovering around the ball just to tackle the ball player is also trying to milk a free. Sadly, not playing the ball is fairly common in junior footy now too.I guess why Bevo is not happy as we do have a few players that get regular free kicks for high tackles, Cody, Hunter, Toby, and Jacko. Which was their aim in the first place - to evade the tackle, not milk a free. Cody is often doing the same. I’ve never seen him appeal for a free. If the ump blows the whistle, fine, but if not he keeps playing without missing a beat. Most of the time Toby and Hunter get the free they’ve already broken the tackle.
Hunter especially shakes tackles by ducking. So with the new rules does he now get a free kick awarded against him? Or just play on? Going to be a huge issue for Lachie if it’s a FK because it’s ingrained in his play to get out of tackles that way. Most of the time Toby and Hunter get the free they’ve already broken the tackle.
There is no new rule, it’s always been this way - if you duck or shrug it’s considered prior and if you don’t get a disposal out it’s holding the ball. No frees against for ducking if you still get rid of the ball fairly.Hunter especially shakes tackles by ducking. So with the new rules does he now get a free kick awarded against him? Ducking yes but this new interpretation takes into account dropping the knees or lifting the arm to force the tackler to go high. There is no new rule, it’s always been this way - if you duck or shrug it’s considered prior and if you don’t get a disposal out it’s holding the ball. Definitely different.
