I agree Webb looks to have earned a spot with his excellent VFL form but I'm worried that he hasn't been able to reproduce it when put into the seniors earlier in the season. I hope he's figured out how to adjust this time.

Longer term he should make a decent player. Just not expecting much from him this year.
It doesn't help that he got bounced out in two weeks. He needs continuity.

I agree he hasnt done much at afl level this year.

I think that he has been played on a flank at afl level as opposed to being right in the middle though, anc needs early touches to get involved.

If he gets involved early and gets early touches, i reckon that you will see him really come on. Too much skill.

Continuity is great but you still have to at least earn your keep.

R15 v Syd 4K 10HB 0T ... not too bad first game back against a tough opponent
R16 v Rich 2K 5HB 3T ... pretty poor - probably one of our least effective players that day

Overall, 6 kicks in two games is not enough for a player expected to be able to do rotations through the midfield and rated highly as a prospect because of his excellent kicking. You can't do much damage with your deadly kicking if you can't get a kick.

Hope he will perform much better this time around (if picked) but I can understand why MC omitted him for R17.

While I agree there's been several players get far more chances with far worse performances.

No reason to rush Suckling.Played Alright without him.Webb can also kick.Glad Footscray play Williamston next week don't mind giving the Seagulls a leg up.As the Scray will be depleted.

Predicting this won't be found with popular opinion but if we weren't so depleted with injuries, I would send Stringer to the VFL for a week or two. Most frustrating player to watch recently

I could mention plowing fields and Ferrari's Sayer, but Immortal would
take me to the cleaners again. I dumped him from my fantasy team
months ago if that makes you feel better, Bont last man standing.;)

Stringer just has no confidence in himself in the air and too much confidence in himself at ground level. As a result he's deliberately conceding position A so he's in a better position to collect the spill and fend his man. It's not good but I'm not really sure dropping him to the VFL will do anything about it. Coaches need to continue to work on his overhead and contest stuff and as that comes back into his game, as will his confidence in that area. Kicking 10 at ground level in the VFL will do nothing for him.

Yes hope coaching staff will repair this flaw soon.

Heard reports that Libba will probably need an operation and is out for the season and that Macraes injury is worse than fist thought

The season that keeps on giving.

Losing Libba AND Wallis is catastrophic - we need at least one of them as an inside mid

If Macrae is cooked, so are we. Possibly the most underrated player in the league

His 8 quarters in those two weeks were terrible and warranted being sent back to the VFL. I like Webb, but they are trying to turn him into a mid but his defensive game isn't up to scratch yet. I think he will come back in though, as our injuries are rising!

They were no worse than Jong's whole year.

Disagree. Jongy had a disappointing half last weekend (Tigers) but set about upping his output and contribution in the second half when the team was 2 rotations down. He has had several bad quarters over the season but contributes something during a game, more in some games than others. Webb did nothing for 4 straight quarters in his last game - it was Jonesesque.
I liked him in his first ever game and he's got latitude but didn't deserve to keep his spot. Seems to have done enough to justify a recall. Hope he goes well. Hope Jong goes well. Hope the whole team goes well.

Yep. Has Webb was our 2nd best player in any game, like he did in that loss to Geelong first time round? That was one of three times he was in our best 8 players in a 4-game period, according to AFL Player Ratings Points.

There are preconceptions surrounding Jong's games that people simply can't dismiss. Like how because how people he has athleticism, but doesn't always use it, somehow equates to playing a poor game? That's just an illogical process of thought. If anything, his lack of use of his athleticism has actually helped his game - he used to take the game on, and be fumbly and put teammates in worse positions with disposal, after he tried to use his pace. People will find any reason to criticise him.

Webb had 6 kicks and 3 tackles across the 2 games he played. That is an extremely poor return. It is simply illogical and biased to suggest that wasn't worse than all but maybe one of Jong's games for the year.
