It's unbelievable how critical of Jong people are. Some bang on about how good Suckling is (which he can be) but Jong has actually played good games for us (not Hawthorn) in big games. F*** me, if the rest of the team had had Jongy's 50% goal conversion rate in the EF last year we would have won the f'ing thing. And no it wasn't Roberts fault either, but conversion in front of goal that ultimately cost us. He's played well in big games against quality opposition away from home. He has some runs on the board and is deserving of a bit better. Libba, Wallis and Macrae could well all be gone. Who's left, the Bont on his own to do the heavy lifting. We're gonna need Jongy and Stevens (both fringe) for the rest of the year including finals. I wish them every success.Yep. Has Webb was our 2nd best player in any game, like he did in that loss to Geelong first time round? That was one of three times he was in our best 8 players in a 4-game period, according to AFL Player Ratings Points.
There are preconceptions surrounding Jong's games that people simply can't dismiss. Like how because how people he has athleticism, but doesn't always use it, somehow equates to playing a poor game? That's just an illogical process of thought. If anything, his lack of use of his athleticism has actually helped his game - he used to take the game on, and be fumbly and put teammates in worse positions with disposal, after he tried to use his pace. People will find any reason to criticise him.
Webb had 6 kicks and 3 tackles across the 2 games he played. That is an extremely poor return. It is simply illogical and biased to suggest that wasn't worse than all but maybe one of Jong's games for the year.
