Out: Dawson (Inj), Tex (inj), RoB (needs an oil can), Smith (just embarrasses himself and the club by putting his hand up right now).
In: Dowling, Curtin, Strachan, Hamill (was he the travelling emergency? didn't play SNAFL?).

Laird to back pocket, Schoey to sub (he was unsighted), Berry into the starting line-up. Hamill should be played on the wing, with Jones to HBF too I think.
Both hamill and McHenry travelled

Was Scotts gameplan bad against GCS, resulting in his biggest loss as a Coach ....or do the players take responsibility for failing to adhere, or an inability to undertake .....injuries / young players often fail to stick to gameplans

Nah, never seen a gameplan compensate for poor players
I reckon Scott had decided to tank that match well beforehand. Plenty of rested players.

Did Scott tried to play a different game plan than usual or was GCS just the better team that game? Nicks has admitted to changing this at the start of the season when we played shit and we played a similar style yesterday at the start, the only coach who played a similar game plan was Mitchell early in the season and they got belted and then he apologies to the supporters.

That's my point though ....Scott brought in young players to replace experienced players ......hence the gameplan faltered ....he didn't throw the game, no Coach does

It demonstrates again ....young rookie players do not make up for even under performing experienced players ...exceptions of course, but not the rule

McAuliffe last night was fantastic in the first half ....but as youngsters do, fell in a heap in the 2nd half ....they cannot run out full games, and in particular tight games

What tripe !!

Rachele came in with a swagger, that coincided with ego building draft year hype .....go watch his U18 highlights, if you call them that

Given we have NO IDEA how to build confidence & develop players ....how do you explain:

Michalanney .....2nd year, going from strength to strength
Nankervis .....see above
N.Murray ......has he regressed since joining the Club ?
Soligo .....gone backwards, or growing game by game ?

It's apparently the go to blame the Club and Coaches for everything .....but you know what, most of the time it's on the player himself

Rachele, is supposed to have power & speed .....yet, currently he's not busting tackles, not using his speed ....devoid of confidence, yes .....he has to work harder ....not get patted on the head, and continue to have smoke blown up his ******** ......our injuries "may" be his saviour in not getting dropped next week

Geesus ....and you want to play him midfield ....that was tried yesterday, and he was a lazy failure ....brought back memories of Newchurch

So when we smoke the hapless travelling Eagles, you swagger in telling everyone how great the coaching is. But when we lose, nothing to do with coaching and you only turn up to slam a player, commenting on nothing else at all.

The likelihood that you actually watch our games has diminished to near 0%.

We played a different gamestyle to the one against the WCE .....didn't play the short hit up kicks

Every Coach changes tactics weekly, and gameplans are changing every 6 weeks

It was obvious, the improvement this year had to be defensively ....best offence, next layer was better defence ....made harder with Doedee and Murray out

Make no mistake, HAW's improvement had nothing to do with gameplan ....Newcomb was **** ....he's now got his game back, and the addition back of the injured Day, has changed the midfield mix ....it was one dimensional early season

Four and a half wins midway through the season in a year we were expected to be in the 8 if not top 4.
Needs a Royal Commission.
Those calling for 5 or 6 changes this week are once again doomed to disappointment.
Out Borlase in N Murray the only change.

I don’t think so. Murray won’t be in that quick.

Walker Crouch and possibly Dawson out

T Murray, Dowling and possibly Curtin in

Depth being genuinely tested

What about the development of Jones, Mchnery, Milera, Mcasey, Fog, Galucci and Pedlar. Granted they’ve all spent a varied time in the system but none of those ‘highly talented’ prospects have reached their potential or shown consistent signs of performing at a high level.

All of these players were ranked around the picks we took them at so is the scouting ID that poor that we get so many wrong or is it development and not playing players to their strengths and eventually they lose all the confidence?

In: Hamill, Dowling, T Murray, Gollant, Strachan, Ryan, Curtin.

Out: Crouch, Dawson, Walker (injured), Smith, O'Brien, Keays/SMurph (omitted), Burgess (managed).

FB: Hamill/Butts/Borlase

HB: Cook/Keane/Nankervis

C: Hinge/Soligo/Dowling

HF: Jones/Fogarty/Sholl

FF: Rachele/TMurray/Gollant

FOL: Strachan/Berry/Schoenberg

I/C: Michalanney/Ryan/Laird/Curtin

Sub: Keays/SMurph

A lot of potential rotation through half back/ wing. I'd like to see Cook tried back there and potentially taking some kick ins - no idea if it'll work, but his kicking and decision making are strong attributes, and we can afford to experiment at this point. The more ball he gets the better in my view. Get Rachele back into the forward pocket. Laird begrudgingly survives, but only because Dawson and Crouch are out. SMurph and Keays is a toss up.

Give this sort of lineup (plus Taylor and Pedlar when they're ready) an extended run at it. The season's done, so the more experience we can inject into our younger players, the better.

*Walker and Smith to sit out next 2 weeks up to bye.

Strachan needs a crack at AFL level. Play him with O'Brien over the next two weeks. Gollant also one last chance to see if he is worth persisting with.

Give Dowling, Taylor, Ryan and Curtin a couple of weeks before the bye.

Gollant hasnt played for a few weeks. Been injured.

Dowling in for an injured Crouch is a no brainer.

Pedlar in for Schoenberg, you need a lot more runs on the board than Schoey has to get away with a 7 possession game. Would like to see Pedlar run through the through the midfield for a decent amount of time, given we drafted him at 11 as a mid.

Dawson shouldn’t play, season's over and a 5 day break. No point risking him, was a non factor against Hawks. Berry to come in for a full game, has shown he can find the ball, needs to work on not fumbling and at least putting it to the advantage of team mates. Good game to bring Curtin in as sub.

Only thing saving Rachele is the 5 day break - given he only put in 10% effort, should be fresh.

ROB was terrible but gave it his all with pressure. Would be rough if he got dropped and Rachele played.

N Murray needs another SANFL game, tempting as it is, his position has the least need right now. I’d bring in his little bro for Burgess but his pointless late goals will save him.

Maybe McHenry replaces Murphy but swings and roundabouts.

With Nicks saying Dawson was fine and they were looking to manage him through the two shorter breaks I don't think they'll leave him out with Walker and Crouch also coming out. That would be the obvious path to debut Dowling if they wanted to go that route though.

Crouch and Walker definitely out and I assume Berry will start in Crouch's spot after two weeks as sub. That leaves one more to come in and a new sub. Thinking maybe Pedlar and T. Murray as a forward/ruck option. If Dawson is also out, Dowling plays too.

What I’d do

Out ; Tex , Dawson, crouch (all inj) , Murphy

In: Curtin , Dowling , Ryan , Pedlar

Sub: Pedlar
What does Hamill have to do to get another chance at AFL after hus effort on Bobby Hill?

Nicks would know he would be under searing crushing scrutiny if we cough this game up at home against a massively undermanned Richmond.

Expecting any and all available 'senior' players to play.

If Tex, Dawson and Crouch all out going to really test our depth but at least gives some younger guys a proper look.

Pedlar, Dowling, Ryan and Curtin to come in
