Young bloke has asked for the number 23 on his jumper. Thought we had lost him for a while but Charlie (and a win) has peaked his interest again.

Thank Christ.
Ya know what! I might join him, no:23 it is.

Absolute star and so good to watch. Has plenty left in footy as well. Just about everything he touches is gold.
And the best thing is, once he starts to slow up (in 8-9 years time) we can park him in a forward pocket and he will still kick a few

Was at the game, turned to my 5yr old to help him with something and missed this live. :( Have made up for it many times over, bout the only time I've been glad we have social media/you tube!

It happened right in front of me and even then I've had to watch it countless times....purely for academic purposes ;)

Charlie's seems to be in a good place. Miss watching him play every week. Doubt he has reached his ceiling yet, and has improved again over the preseason.

I must admit I wondered when he decided to leave which direction his game would take. Good to see that he's been a win for you

A chance he was in the shadow of Eddie to some extent and maybe playing in a more favourable system to his game now.Early days but promising..

Not really. They were playing completely different roles. They were pretty close by all accounts though. A lot of photos of them together on social media.

Quite a few on our board commented that at times his head didn't seem in the game last year. Later in the year it turned out he'd been thinking about a move for a while. His skill level appears to still be improving which is a big positive.

What were their respective roles ?

Eddie mostly forward pocket. The odd rotation thru the midfield.

Charlie mostly small forward. Would start many centre bounces off of the back of the square. Roamed and connected from HB to FF. Run and carry. Very good, with his speed, at pressuring defences and creating turn-overs in the forward half. Excellent tackling.

As I said,he is a chance to not have another gun small forward next to him now that is allowing some freedom.Nearly always parked close to goal and doing well.
Could well be. Adelaide loved his speed and carry. On occasion he would butcher the ball. His set shot kicking also let him down on occasion. No one doubted he had x-factor though.

Have barely seen Brisbane play this year. For some reason assumed he was playing a similar role.

His field kicking has improved from the video Ive seen of him at Adelaide. Maybe influenced by the fact that hes mostly up forward, but he is starting to impact around the ground now.
The improvement in both his goal and field kicking has been quite amazing. Has kicked 17-4 and I think is pretty clearly our most damaging field kick. Took the glaring weakness in his game and made it a major strength.

Would currently be leading both goal and mark of the year by my reckoning.

If it were decided on merit and not the popularity polls those awards have become.

This. Some of his field kicks entering forward 50 are unbelievable

As weird as it sounds, I think of Charlie a little in the way I think of Eagles. Both bring a dynamic beyond thier actual ability to play football that we've lacked for a while.

We almost got a bit 1 dimensional because of our rebuild... short of maybe Mitch Robinson, no one really bought more than skill or talent or hard work to the team which is no way meant to be a criticism... we were simply looking to get the best players.

But Eagles brings a sort of fearless hardness, and brute force that we've lacked for a long time, and Charlie brings that flair and freakishness that just goes beyond skill.

It's not a comparison of the two at all that's hopefully pretty obvious, but these extra attributes are icing on the cake and the things that help lift a team. They go beyond a great mark or kick... they add the adrenaline needed to lift the rest of guys.

No question at all Charlie is worth 12 and then some, for not only what he can do personally but what he can do for everyone else.
