It sounds as if Higgins might be heading to Geelong so Constable could well end up as part of a deal there. I have seen Constable play a few times and think he would be best 22 at North

Its a fair swap but do north really need another inside mid?

He has been rotting in the twos for three years hasn’t he? Surely wants a shot at a senior game? If Devon Smith is what you crave we could do Dev and a future second for CC and a future first.
I genuinely don't think the cats would be chasing Dev at all let alone throwing a first to second pick downgrade in.

This kid is extremely underrated. Had him top 10 in his draft year and for me, not much has changed

Forget where he sits at the Cats, plenty of elite mids in that lineup

Whoever gets him, presumably for a late 2nd? Are getting a bargain

Agreed. He just can't break into the midfield. Sam Simpson seems to have overtaken him in that regard now. With talks of Geelong chasing Higgans and Crouch, I would be getting out of there as well, unless they could guarantee I would be playing more games next year.

While I think CC is going to be a great player, a pure inside mid without great speed, is always going to find it hard to break into a team unless he's elite.

If traded this year I could only see him getting a game rd1 for Adelaide, Essendon or Carlton.
Eg, with North could you play Simpkin, LDU and him? Or Melbourne, Viney, Oliver and CC in the same side?

We're just waiting for a good time to smuggle him back over the QLD/NSW border

Feels like a Tom Mitchell situation to me. Coach takes a dislike to a certain player for no particular reason, convinced that player is not that good, and then when the player is traded to a club that appreciates his abilities he is allowed to thrive.

I don't think Geelong need anyone other than Cameron. Even Brouch is more of an insurance for ageing stars.

I'm merely talking about the event that Smith wants to leave and Geelong wants to get a decent return for Constable leaving. Better than a 3rd/4th that Geelong will likely never use.

It's reported that Smith is in talks with Geelong anyway.

I would be quite surprised, he turned us down when we were chasing him to sign with Essendon, then everyone has had a good look at him plus he doesn't fill any form of need we have. Short guy who waits for his opponent to get the ball so he can tackle them. Not very useful to us. We need talls.

WTF? T.Mitchell played 19 games in 2015 and every game in 2016 and was your second best in the 2016 GF defeat and walked out on Sydney when out of contract to return home - very different to Constable.

Obviously true but Horse definitely under appreciated Mitchell. Held him to a very high standard to get games early in his career, used him as a tagger at times when he was playing In the senior team as well.
Don’t quote me on this but pretty sure the contract offer was also lower at the end of 2016 than what he signed for previously as well.

clearly didn’t rate him too highly.

apparently on Ports want list or options.

have a couple seconds, wonder if ones enough?
A second is probably the best we could hope for tbh. More likely a third if we're happy for him to explore his options.

There was a cap squeeze due the Bondi Millionaires

It's not that CC is out of favor, He has played well pretty much every time he gets on the field. Issue is we have Danger/Selwood/Parfitt/Duncan/Gola/Guthrie all pretty much locked into the midfield, and Steven/Constable/Simpson/Atkins/ZGuthrie/Narkle fighting for single spot on the outer (with Cooper Stephens in the wings).

Titch is an accumulation beast. Baffled the world why horse played him the way he did.

Port won't chase Constable .....you already have William Drew, who you recently signed to a new Contract

Both are very similar players, and one slowish inside mid is enough

Yep. Mitchell was getting 60 disposals in the NEAFL and couldn't get in the team and when he finally did get in the team Longmire played him mostly as a tagger.
