I would have thought he is expendable, he's not going to be an elite midfielder more of a foot solider and maybe 33 and chook is a little low ball but not that much really..

Not at all. Parish is our best clearance winner, something overall we are not strong at.
Weā€™ll be looking to keep Ridley, Draper, Langford, McGrath, Parish and maybe Merrett (depending on how conversations go over the next few weeks).
Feel free to pick apart the rest of the list.

I don't think Geelong need anyone other than Cameron. Even Brouch is more of an insurance for ageing stars.

I'm merely talking about the event that Smith wants to leave and Geelong wants to get a decent return for Constable leaving. Better than a 3rd/4th that Geelong will likely never use.

It's reported that Smith is in talks with Geelong anyway.

Haven't heard reports wellsy talking to Smith's camp to be honest but another way is to give you Narkle and Constable for mid-late 2nd rd pick

Yeah agreed.
Parish for us (at least most Essendon fans hope/think) should be playing pretty much the same role as Guthrie, just obviously not as well.
Weā€™ve chosen to play him more forward than midfield for the first half of the year though, for whatever reason.

I mean i agree smith is better than some 60s pick but i doubt he even wants to come here..he had thr chance to last time and turned it down.

Id take someone like Bryan ... not much in the way of useful but would be a better fit on our list than yours...Draper is a ripper...

but the club is not me... they probably would prefer to either exchange Constable into something usable or an increase in draft power next year..

so FR2 for Constable would be something that we could talk about perhaps we add a pick coming back.

Geelong are very aware of the age profile of the best players .. and just like 2015 it would not surprise me if we decided to add multiple mature type that pulls our age profile down but all capable of maintaining mature performance. So is that Smith? Not sure. If he has lost pace I dont think ew need any more mature slow types

Ely Smith and Deven Robertson (our last two top picks) are both inside mids and aren't cracking the side, and we also have ellis-yolmen and mathieson as backup. There's always a spot for a gun midfielder but Constable doesn't fit that category and we have depth options he'd just be competing with.
