Wonder if New England will be on fields now that jones has been traded ?
trade for Fields and then flip pick 3 for a haul might not be a terrible idea

But is Fields really any good?

All that cap space and only confirmed signing is Swift.
Got paid plenty after a down year too I notice, and I didn’t feel RB was a pressing need.
Can only hope OL / WR help is in the pipelines
Swift has played behind elite OL's his whole career, interested to see how this works out now he isnt (currently, that could change by the end of the offseason with the draft) Hopefully more successful than it was for the Panthers and Miles Sanders. Couldn't be any worse. :$

Interesting that Poles signed Swift for what he did after letting Monty walk for less last offseason.
I thought the same thing, but actually checked and seems Monty had a change of heart when offered the bears deal and signed on at the Lions for a similar deal 😞

If they don’t , then Williams ( presuming we take him) and Swift will get battered by good run defenses just like Fields does.

80% of Chicago are going to be pissed if when Poles trades pick 1 and sticks with Fields.
2xWR, Edge, DT, C & OT in first 2 days with the haul plus future 1st.

Hard to assess a QB when he’s surrounded by trash.

Poles shit his pants, even if Caleb is the next Mahones (which he won’t be), our rebuild is only half finished. Thin O line, thin D line and still only have 1 WR in the medium to long term. How do we address all those needs with picks 9, 75 and a 4th rounder?

With the draft haul we could have easily drafted 4 starters including one of the best 3 WR’s. Plus plenty of depth and also massive draft capital in 2025.

You are in denial. You can say he was surrounded by trash but the Bears had a better winning percentage with backup QBs starting during Fields time in Chicago than with Fields. When has that ever happened for a QB you can win with long term?

The fact Getsy got another job and Fields went for a 6th rounder tells you all you need to know. Unlike fans, NFL evaluators aren't seduced by highlight plays, they look at if someone can do the basics, stay on script, timing throws, can read defenses and get the ball out quick, throw guys open , not turn the ball over etc etc. . all things Fields still struggles with/lacks consistency with after year 3.

My thoughts on JF are based on statistical analysis which I have posted earlier, not highlight plays. I hope he gets a chance to prove himself at the steelers.

Anyway time to move on. Hopefully Caleb is more CJ Stroud than Bryce Young.
