To build a team, a majority of 53, a lot of draft capital needed, and a lot of those wont amount to anything as per the league-wide averages. And trading back and back, and having a lot of day three picks, most of those wont even make roster or stick.

The most important game-changer is drafting a first round QB who ends up elite the rest of the roster can work itself out, vet acquisitions etc..

Look at how Chiefs went from 50 years of nothing to winning three super bowls out of five years. Look at how Texans turned it around with Stroud. Etc with franchise QBs of the past.

If anything Bears should do a Texans, use #1 on Williams and trade other picks back into the top 5 and grab another elite draftee, whatever position, maybe WR, maybe OL.

The idea of trading down and rebuilding rest of team is great until you realise you are stuck with fields.
He has horrible pocket presence takes way too sacks and fumbles, is worst 4th quarter qb in league and still struggle to go thru progressions. Fields is by far the worst qb in division until the bears fix that ain’t going anywhere.

Not even remotely close to winning anything.
However last season was an improvement and I expect further progress as a bare minimum.

When you do a deep dive into stats, there is good reason to believe the offensive line, wideouts & offensive play calling were the problem, not Justin.

I don’t rate Fields highly but there’s merit to that as well. The O line has been shit, as was the play calling and besides DJ and to a lesser extent Kmet not a high level of threat either.

I am more upset the fact Lance got 3 and abit games before they gave up on him yet Bears have 40 games of fields and him being plain horrible and yet fans still think he become an adequate or top tier qb its just plain baffling.
