Did our club say 3 premierships in 5 years so to do this wouldn't we need to play some of the top 8 teams twice.
Sick of the bullshit
Wont be a member next year and most probably won't watch many games either

You'll regret it when we beat the 12th placed SUNS on grand final day.

His article in the paper this morning on how Port can "bounce back" is beyond disappointing.

I saw it and thought, this should be good. Chris is a straight shooter.

Unfortunately he has been Koched up.

He avoided any chance to set expectations for next year or accountability for this year like a politician. And made poor excuses for our top 8 record.

What is the internal expectation for next season?

"We expect a response from the group. We certainly believe we have the ability to turn 2022 around and perform strongly in 2023".

It's not even make finals now. Just "perform strongly".

The worst is repeating the rubbish line that we were unlucky to play a lot of good teams.

Yep, if only every game was against the bottom 4…

Beyond comprehension

Davies quickly going from Summer of George to Burt Peterson in the eye of this board.

I still don't know what he has control over within the football department (there are clearly personnel decisions where he can, at best, provide advice to the board or executive).

But if Davies is Burt Peterson then Hinkley and Koch are Freddie Rumsen's piss soaked trousers. They remain our biggest and most pressing concern.

Probably, the first thread questioning Davies is mine: August 2018.

Davies knows that if ken goes he goes.

Koch knows that if ken goes he goes.

Richo knows that if ken goes he goes.

All the assistant coaches know if ken goes, they all go.

It's obviously a incestuous protection racket because everyone involved knows that they get the arse if the coach goes.

It all started in 2017, then doubled-down in 2020. Neither was necessary.

Fair points, but I reckon all 3 of Davies, Kok and Richardson could buy some extra time in their roles if they pull the pin on kern.

Specifically Davies and Richardson, who `should' be smart enough to work out that if the kokmeister isn't reined in and gives kern another extension then it has to be game over for all 3 of them.

Chris Davies interview at the 7:30 mark.

Says we are missing key defenders in the mid 20s. Jonas and McKenzie 30+, Pasini, K.Marshall, McCallum yet to play. Ratugolea, McKay and Pickett mentioned. Wants less restrictions on trading picks.

SANFL side will struggle because it's a young side. Wants Josh Sinn to stay on the park. Talked up Visentini.

Wants to tie Georgiades down to a contract at some point during the season, but he needs to focus on getting back in the AFL side. Club still has massive faith in him. Says he'll be speaking with Bergmans management at some point to get him re-signed. Talks up that we historically don't lose too many players.

Rozee out of contract at the end of 2024. Davies says he's a long term leader and hopes Rozee sees his long term future here.

I'd love to know that as well because I don't see a long term future for me as a port fan atm

Interesting that Visentini was mentioned. Sinn yes high end draft pick, Dante much lesser known. These interviews aren't entirely spontaneous, so good to hear Dante get raised. A few of us here have been excited by his potential from the outset.

If I remember correctly Davies talked up Sam Hayes a lot once upon a time. Unfortunately that didn’t translate to faith by the coaching staff.

I don't remember that, but I don't remember a lot of stuff these days.

I think they like Visentini, he was given a run in one of the trial games and didn't look out of place.

His ruck technique is very good, he may be a fraction short by modern ruck standards but his aggression makes up for that. And he can get around the ground.

He's been immediately very competitive against senior rucks in the sanfl, moreso than any ruck recruit I've seen at Port.

Blind Freddys grandma's canary could see we have been well short of at least one quality key defender since Daryl Wakelin retired 15 odd years ago, and when we had someone who could have filled that role (ie Dougal Howard) he was traded away for some magic beans.

The 3 K's had run their race at least 5 years ago but only one was prepared to accept his time was up, in my opinion Davies is now right up the clacker of the remaining pair, and to utilise a racing term is closing fast!

Mentioned a couple of times on The Age's podcast that Davies may be out the door at the end of the year, with multiple teams chasing him as head of football, as well as the AFL itself for the vacant position as footy ops boss (Brad Scott's old role).
