This should be the most obvious role for Tredrea in the history of roles for Tredrea!

Not happening for many reasons, but aaargh.
Why would Tredrea give up his board position to take on a role that answers to the board?

$$$$$.

If the board couldnt / wouldnt challenge CD, they wont challenge Tredders and he would be paid $250k+ and not do the job for the love of his club

You're saying Tredrea will sell out. I'd be extremely disappointed if that happened.

How the bloody hell did you get that interpretation?

He wants to drive change. He doesnt get paid a cent for being a board director.

As footy ops boss he gets paid $250k+ and he drives changes more directly and nobody on the board will challenge him, given nobody has challenged CD for years.

Hence, it wouldn’t be solely for the money. There are other benefits — probably more important ones, even.

P.S.: I still prefer Tredrea as Club Chairman. A Port equivalent to S.L. Benfica’s Rui Costa.

The footy ops manager's role is subservient to the board. Tredrea would be answerable to Koch and hIs footy ignorant board. Remember Tredrea was told he needed to go away and learn about the PAFC. Just because CD with support from the likes of Cassisi was able to get Hinkley's contract extended because it aligned with what Koch wanted doesn't mean that Tredrea would be able to get them to agree to changes that Koch and his complaint board didn't want to make.

CD wasn't challenged by the board because he told them what they wanted to hear.

You are very naive and straight jacketed by form and structure.

This guy has to go. Smug and self satisfied operator with a near enough is good enough attitude. Self describes his football department as elite - an interesting description given in his 10 years in charge we are 1 of only 7 clubs to have not participated in a grand final, keeping company with North Melbourne, St Kilda, Fremantle, Essendon, Carlton and the SUNS.

This part, maybe. He waffles less than Ken. Better at spin. And his track record outside the odd spin doctoring is mixed as opposed to obviously "ceiling-limited" like Ken, or "ego-limited" like Koch. Yes Koch is unlikely to appoint anyone to footy ops boss that he isn't fully aligned with. Stability, risk aversion, spinning hype as delivery his long term MO. Maybe that's what he sells to his feudal masters at AFL House in exchange for a minor fiefdom-plaything for his ego to run. Hell maybe he does appoint a disruptor (!!) to footy ops so they can wear saying "no" to another Hinkley extension rather that himself. So any fail downstream of that attaches more to the new footy ops person. Either way, neither professional nor healthy.

I get the two "against" points that Tredrea doesn't have either the detail-oriented off field experience or - not unrelated - the right temperament. It's easier to make "hard" decisions than "correct" ones that are assessed over much longer time intervals. Has he shown the patience to listen, gather, process insights into things not at the core of his own skill set?

tl; dr: up to this week I'd have said "CD needs to go, not quite as urgently as Ken & Koch need to go". But this hanging around during trade week while openly-secretly weighing up a jump to a competitor is a shocking conflict-of-interest. FFS

That's an absolutely absurd statistic.

One club out of 7 consistently 4x top 4 finishes in the last ten years whilst the other clubs are bottom dweller's.

There's a big problem with our administration

Who is the staff member at the club who is responsible for managing integrity/conflicts of interest etc?
What about integrity and conflicts of people divulging information to outside people who post it on this board?
