Opinion Chris Scott's coaching - PART III

He's played Murdoch an awful lot in defence. I don't think he's a defender.

I don't think anything I present is any kind of magic pill. It is the opinion of one person and nothing more. You can take it up with VD if you wish, as I was directly responding to him. If people don't like that, or are going to call me out as you put it - fine. I can't control that and I don't see why I should care. Opinions of me by others would be formed already and they aren't going to change based on what I pretend to think.

Murdoch has played on the defensive side of midfield a lot but rarely (never?) as a genuine defender. I can't think of a time he's had an opponent to man up on in defence. It's also hard to argue playing him in that role is playing him out of position when he's probably spent the comfortable majority of his games in that role. He's also played him less defensively since some time in 2016 so it's a strange criticism to make now.

If you don't think you present things in a magic pill type way I think you should reread your posts. You so often talk about things that will help, things Scott must do or why Scott's decisions are definitely wrong. I think adding the odd qualifier might help people realise you don't think that what you're writing is incontrovertible fact.

I'd be curious to see how often I've stated that Scott must do things or that what I write are incontrovertible facts. Considering I think that most if not all of what I suggest could be wrong it would be somewhat difficult.

Either way, I'm not going to apologise for having different opinions or the way I present them.

secret photos from training, real reason for having no kpd!!

The players are really playing for their coach. Trusting his game plan and teaching. And the results are coming.

See that last quarter break chat with Duncan? Three minutes later Duncan takes a contested mark and a goal.
Yep but at the end when danger and Selwood were very cosy with Scott, well, they were just pretending because none of the players like him.
Blighty am I rite?

If, and it’s a big if..... IF we beat the Swans next week, it will represent one of the better months of coaching Scott has ever produced.

To get close to the west coast in the circumstances, trounce St Kilda in second gear, beat Port away and then, hypothetically beat Sydney, without a third of our first choice side available - that’s something fairly impressive.

So Port fans want Hinkley gone, Swans fans want Longmire gone, last week Crows fans want Pyke gone, before last season Richmond fans wanted Hardwick gone, give it another year and the dogs fans will turn on Berveridge like some cats fans have turned on Scott. The only coach who seems to escape the wrath of some of their fanbase is Clarkson. My point is the grass isn't greener on 16 other sides, stop being so impatient in demanding success, only one team can win it at the end of the day.

I by no means think Scott is a bad coach or a lost cause but couldn't the Blicavs move had been made immediately after Harry went down? I don't really understand why there was a three week delay. I feel like it cost us both the WCE and HAW game.

Scott figures things out about 2-3 weeks (or years) later, mostly due to injuries.

No surprise the team plays better with 2 KPDs, a ruck and a ruck/forward and more experienced players like Murdoch, GHS and Thurlow in the team to support the kids.

Watching kids footy this am and I was told by non-Cats supporters how good a coach we have. I nearly fell over.

I think some of his best coaching efforts have been when we’ve had key personnel out and we’ve been forced to think outside the square.
Why is it that the majority of non Cats people rate CS, and yet this thread would lead you to believe we are a rabble of a team that never plays finals and has no future?
As I keep reiterating, we have the best possible coach for our team. His record against all other coaches is exceptional. If we can ever break even with Pies, this thread will have become very uninteresting.

How could you possibly think Blicavs not playing FB cost us both of those games?

Very poor.
Scott has things worked out a month before you've posted.

Until we find out the term BiggyBoy has another meaning, you will continue to have the most aptly named username on Big Footy.

Another great coaching effort.

Well done Simon Lloyd.

:D
Another? When was the other?

Hinkley strategy was awfully like the scott one employed for the first 3 rounds. First option is to kick it backwards around the wing enabling teams to get their zone in place. No value placed in tap ruckman. Lets see how scott goes when a coach doesnt copy his strategies and he has to rely more on talent and endeavour of the list.

You guys really think that if you can see something that could help us that CS and MC have not already considered that possibility????
For weeks we've heard nothing but moans about Smith not getting game time, and Stanley playing- but now this week we finally have reports about how far off the pace Smith is at present. Vent by all means, but maybe have a little respect for the intellect of the MC which sees the team day in day out.
Smith will eventually come good, but I have full faith and confidence in the machinations of CS/MC.

So Scott's no good and Hinkley's no good...who do you rate? Humour us with someone other than Clarkson.
