Back up list filling in for injured players. When hendo and taylor come back he is no longer needed in defence. I worry where we put him then. Please not as a wingman.
Blic is a non negotiable key player in our team. You'd better get used to it. He has enough credits now to suggest that is irrefutable.

I'm still trying to work out what the strategy is to move the ball from defensive 50? Looks like our only plan in long down the line.... Why is it our players struggle so much to find space? And why the **** does he keep playing spud Stanley...

Very poor.
Scott has things worked out a month before you've posted.

You are clearly wrong.

So far this year he has played too many kids and not enough talls in some games.

Finally he has got the mix right after 5 rounds and has at least cost us 1 win if not 2.

Ignorance on your part, as was I. Apparently Smith was poor at VFL level. Haven't you heard CS say that our rucks at present are struggling?

A non negotiable key player has a regular position. He has no credits as a ruck or wingman. None. Some credits as a defensive mid but is he ahead of scott selwood? He is showing some as a defender but when fit we have plenty of tall defenders. Think his career would prosper better as a permanent defender at another club. Or he could just wait to harry retires to finally find his role.

What would you have said if Sav had played v Hawks?
And why did he not play?

Do you think hinkleys approach last night was good?
It's quite a common practice on these threads to answer a question with a question. Classic deflection.

I believe Hinkley has his hands tied with no Ryder. Added numbers around the ball, similar to the Saints the week before, to try and match the strength of the Cats midfield. Leaves holes elsewhere that is certainly assisting our young defence, and helping make the coach look good. Our midfield is AWESOME!

We have just had a remarkable win, a third of our alleged best 22 missing, and you 3 guys dredge up previous weeks to fuel your hatred. Amazing. If we got to a GF, you'd spend the whole week criticising CS for getting us to a game that we'll lose anyway

Sav was an injury concern and there was no backup tall.

Already called for more experienced players and less kids, took Scott until round 5 to get it right.

An injury concern on the day?
Who did we replace Hawk with yesterday?

You guys really think that if you can see something that could help us that CS and MC have not already considered that possibility????
For weeks we've heard nothing but moans about Smith not getting game time, and Stanley playing- but now this week we finally have reports about how far off the pace Smith is at present. Vent by all means, but maybe have a little respect for the intellect of the MC which sees the team day in day out.
Smith will eventually come good, but I have full faith and confidence in the machinations of CS/MC.

This is the mechanism that put Zach Guthrie on Roughhead while Blicavs was on the wing right?.....But it's not that I think CS/MC is bad or incompetent. It's just from time to time I'm frustrated by some of the moves. And this is different to the Smith one, Blicavs was always in the team and clearly fit.

Interesting and probably true. I have always thought that Blicavs could be a good key back and agree that he has never really been more than a swiss army knife option elsewhere. Easy to get addicted to a player like that,as a coach, but i agree that he has been a jack of all trades and master of none. With fully fit list he has no function but if he can sustain his form as a kp backman who knows ?
Loved has chase of Jake Neade. Showed a good turn of closing speed.

Without Sav, Blic was not able to play that KB role. How did we nearly get them? Don't forget, Roughie only got us in that lastQ, after the Hawks had already dominated us. We did the catching up.

Another? When was the other?

Hinkley strategy was awfully like the scott one employed for the first 3 rounds. First option is to kick it backwards around the wing enabling teams to get their zone in place. No value placed in tap ruckman. Lets see how scott goes when a coach doesnt copy his strategies and he has to rely more on talent and endeavour of the list.
*whoosh*

Ignorance on my part? I've been calling for us to get a decent ruckman for years. Instead we go with second hand spuds. We had multiple opportunities to recruit dedicated ruckman and went for players like Thurlow. This has been an issue since Ottens left. Mumford was the only decent one and we traded him away. We have kept bringing in this 'hybrid' ruck like McIntosh, Mitch Clark, Nathan Vardy, Josh Walker (lol). Trent West, Dawson Simpson, Tom Hawkins - its embarrassing how many times the club has got it wrong. Now we are stuck with hybrid spud Stanley and Smith who is lacking the intensity to be a decent ruck.

I am so glad CS and MC do not share your overly critical view.

Blitz could be in defence for a while yet, as Henderson is not expected to return this year.

Also, how long will Taylor keep playing? He'll be 32 in June. Is it possible that Blitz could take Taylor's spot?

Good on you for calling. They are so readily available. What we did with Ottens had a reasonable chance of recurring with any of those. But it didn't. Tell me the superb rucks that have contributed in a large way to any flags since 2012.

I've had Blic earmarked for that role 2 seasons ago. This year is a winner for us . We are winning games, or learning how to, with the absence of Harry, Hendo and Hawk.

Boyd played a fairly useful second half in 2016. Nankervis was very good last year. That's two for starters.

Ha even when we win the urge to moan and post shit is too much for some.
Love this place sometimes.
I look at the headings, and the last to post, and it's the 3 amigos. I look and am hoping they are finally saying something truthfully positive, but as you say, NO WAY.

Oh well done Vdubs. Also had Duncan out for a bit. Ablett to return, wonder if he'll be back for the Swans game. Would love a fit Cockatoo.

I was a bit worried at Rds 1 + 2, with our Rucks out of form. Spirits have lifted considerably with the improvement of Sav, who I think can #2 Ruck. Really prefer Blitz to stay in our Backline. The young blokes are terrific. I cannot criticise Scott, have always had faith in him.

Getting excited about the Swans game, whereas I'd been dreading it.
