Traded Chris Yarran [to Richmond for Pick 19]

Carlton simply wouldn't consider this one. In what is supposed to be the worst ever draft cohort, it simply does not value either of our players remotely adequately.
For all the flack given to Tom Bell, he finished 4th in our B&F and won the Most Improved Player. There is no chance we would let him go for a mid 30'd pick. It wouldn't even start discussion.

If your B&F matters for trade value, where did Yarran come?

All of this is true.
We're still not trading him for nothing.
You will get something for him just not our first round pick were also the only one interested and he has nominated us, expect a mid second rounder and a player, or a trade which gets us pick 20 which we then then give for yarran

OK Richmond supporters, say Yarran was to go elsewhere however Lennon still wanted a trade to the Blues. What do you think it would take to get Lennon to the Blue. Just keep it simple coz I don't want to take away from the fact that this is a Yarran thread.

Post on your main account and I'll answer.

Crows match the cats with Danger, the cats have to pony up 2 first round picks? They won't get Henderson.
They could match that for Dangerfield because it would hurt Geelong. Geelong want very badly NOT for that to happen. They want their first pick for Henderson. Discussions have apparently headed that way for quite a while. But Geelong don't appear to realize that other clubs are not in the Geelong team building business. They want blood for their players.
I think that is a reason why Hendo has not come out publically with a preferred destination. He knows he could end up at Fremantle or St. Kilda yet.

For that matter, with Carlton's interest in some of the GWS boys, it may well be that Yarran ends up in Sydney. GWS appear much more likely to offer something Carlton may find acceptable. The issues GWS would then have would be salary cap ones, but if they offer 2 players for Yarran, it helps them reduce their list while getting the sort of player they want.

This really is going around in circles. No one is going to agree.
You are correct. Nor is it likely to change much. With this year's cohort not well thought of, the ability to alter a list will come more than ever from trading. It means that a lot of proposals would come up and more than 1 suitor would be expected for each player.
Also it means that 30 - 50 ranked picks are not going to be held in high regard.
It is going to make the Trade Period be probably the most indecisive and divisive of all times. I would also expect a large number of trades and a terrible mess near the last minute.

Tom Bell will end up staying. Chris Yarran will go to Richmond for Ben Lennon and a swap of richmond and carltons second round pick.

Not a good fit for us but could see the swans going after Yarran especially if Jetta leaves

Lennon won't be going anywhere.

Our club has stated from day 1 since Hardwick was appointed coach that it will not trade out any top talent to get talent in.

I would have thought last year and this year would be relevant to an equation. One bad year for varying reasons doesn't eliminate anything beforehand, and one good year doesn't eliminate former misgivings either. Thus we don't value Bell above Yarran as yet.

Sure it does, but I assume you'd agree a (very) bad year drops his values noticeably.

Yarran + 19 for Lennon + 30

Richmond win that trade by a mile

Very short mile....

Given that both picks will likely be back by several picks after compo and the like, it becomes more reasonable...Although personally, I'd still prefer to keep Lennon and give you Brisbane's second (if we get that for Astbury).

Mate, we're getting pick 8 or so for Henderson. Let's just check ourselves and understand that Yarrans application this year has consequences and work out a mutually beneficial deal for both parties.

I place a lot of weight to his head being turned early. Some players don't put it all on the line if they believe they are going somewhere else next year. I think that happened with Yarran, with Henderson ... and to a lesser degree with Eddie in 2013.
