Traded Chris Yarran [to Richmond for Pick 19]

Mate, we're getting pick 8 or so for Henderson. Let's just check ourselves and understand that Yarrans application this year has consequences and work out a mutually beneficial deal for both parties.

We won't be working out any deal on BigFooty.

Mind you if you are making this year's application a defining factor, you might want to say it quietly when also saying we are getting a top 10 pick for Hendo.

Teams want them for what they can do, and what they expect them to do for them, not a disgruntled final season for Carlton.

Yeah no comment with the Hendo pick. Haha. I'll just leave that by saying he is a flexible kp player.

I place a lot of weight to his head being turned early. Some players don't put it all on the line if they believe they are going somewhere else next year. I think that happened with Yarran, with Henderson ... and to a lesser degree with Eddie in 2013.

Personally, I'm not too keen on him because he dropped his head so badly. I'd rather be looking for guys who put in 100% every game, but it seems Richmond is looking at him, and I'd hope such behavior does effect his value, both for trade and salary.

Very short mile....

Given that both picks will likely be back by several picks after compo and the like, it becomes more reasonable...Although personally, I'd still prefer to keep Lennon and give you Brisbane's second (if we get that for Astbury).

Well each pick is already at #20 and #31 given Gold Coast have #19 as a compo pick already. Can see Leuenberger compo taking them back one further.

Suddenly #21 and #32 don't look so far apart.

Some Blues supporters have concerns about Lennon too frankly, in terms of what position he will settle into and his versatility. The fact that Tigers don't want to lose him tells me he has a lot of potential and he has junior pedigree so I'd be a lot happier than I was when we got Collins for Grigg.

Yarran has exposed form, is still young, but has exposed attitude as well. The potential of Lennon making it at all vs the potential of Yarran swallowing his attitude and getting back to his best. Yarran has walked out, Lennon hasn't. I'd do the trade with that pick upgrade thrown in.

I deplore the way some of these guys played acted or played in their final seasons. It didn't seem to affect Laidler, Betts, Waite, Garlett or Robinson when they got to their new clubs. Tigers and Cats are banking on the same for Yarran and Henderson.

If Carlton received lets say pick 20, which has been mentioned in this thread, would you be happy with that for Yarran?

A few trades would have to go through for that to happen though.
If that's the best we can do then I suppose we have to accept that.

Still not seeing the bit where Yarran says he wants to be traded to Richmond...a fortnight ago Schulz had signed with Freo, a week a go Kreuzer was a sure thing for the pies...column inches must be filled.
Yarran, who signalled his exit from Carlton by not attending the club best and fairest on Thursday, wants to be traded to Richmond, as has been reported for some time.

Still...no quote. I understand he is going...I'll even hold the door. I just don't believe Richmond are necessarily...err...in the box seat. Perth makes sense, Adelaide makes sense, Sydney even makes a little sense...Richmond I'm just not sure about.

He met with richmond early in the year to discuss coming to us and we were interested he has already said he wants to go, and has clearly said he wants to come to Richmond not sure why you dont see it clearly in the article. Also sydney wont want him they need there picks for academy kids, freo also wont get him there using there picks to get the gws player

That sounds like rule breaking. A contracted player being approached by and then meeeting with another club half way through a season.

That's why I've always taken that report as BS.

No other player has ever been reported to meet with another club at that time of the season regarding the following season.

True, no quote, but when reporters don't cover their arses with terms like 'it is understood that', then you can be reasonably confident.

Still, nothing is certain until the deal is signed.

Its not against the rules to meet with a contracted player, and yarran probably made it known that he wanted out at the end of the year anyway

True, it would be against the rules, but those rules have been stuffed since players got agents....Sure, you can't speak to Yarran, but you can talk to his agent about him every day and the agent would be duty bound to inform his client about what's going on and listen to said client's opinion on proceedings.

Are you sure it's not against the rules? From what I can recall it would be agaisnt the rules.

Logic says it would cause a great deal of disruption to teams if other clubs were constantly approaching their players trying to get them to come to their clubs.

No im not sure of the exact rules but who knows

I don't doubt they talk to agents. However it's been common for Richmond fans to state Yarran met with Richmond officials mid season. If that's so then that is gross breach of etiquette and potentially rules.

Well then if it's against the rules either Richmond has broken them or what was reported is BS.

Given there's been nothing reported where by Richmond has been implicated for breaching rules I'm going to go with the line that Richmond and Yarran never actually met midseason.
Regardless his probably going to be at richmond next year
