Traded Chris Yarran [to Richmond for Pick 19]

I don't doubt they talk to agents. However it's been common for Richmond fans to state Yarran met with Richmond officials mid season. If that's so then that is gross breach of etiquette and potentially rules.

Getting an 'in principle' agreement with his agent and 'just happening' to cross paths with Yarran at some time would effectively meet the criteria...

I agree it's a breach of etiquette, but it'd hardly be unusual, and considering some of the crap that goes on, very small potatoes.

but wasn't there something about he (Yarran) getting permission to talk to the Tigs

Is that different to Carlton meeting with Aish 6 rounds into the season, or are their breaches of etiquette and the rules allowed.

FWIW, I'm predicting Yarran for a second round pick will be done and dusted very early in trade period and Carlton fans will spend the 2 weeks of trade period crying about how they got ripped a new one.

You're telling the story. One I've never seen mentioned previously in the media or on any board i've come across.

You'll be the one crying, he's a spud. I for one don't really rate him. For all the reasons you only want to pay a second rounder.

I think its time to just accept there is a 98% chance yarran is off to richmond
No. Richmond's supporters, and maybe even their coaching staff WANT Yarran to be a 98% chance to go to Richmond. Richmond want what Yarran can give. Fair enough too.

But what Carlton want, when a player is bound by a contract, and is not a free agent, is also important. That seems to be being ignored.

The other thing is that Yarran, or his management, have indicated that Yarran wants out. And that Richmond may be his 1st choice. That does not mean it is his only choice.
[1] He has strong family connection in WA. They want him over there. The issues with his father also just weigh upon him. This is why he was in Perth, after all, last week. He didn't do it just to irk Carlton.
[2] His best friend and mentor, Eddie Betts, would love him to go to Adelaide. There is nobody at Richmond whom he likes as he does Eddie Betts.
[3] Carlton would find it more to our benefit in sending him to Sydney to play with GWS (not Sydney). GWS know that Carlton is interesting in a number of their players and need some spaces to reduce their list size.

At the moment the only thing to draw Yarran to Richmond is money.
That may be enough. But don't count your chickens until KFC dishes them up. God knows we don't.

You may be right, but I find the probability to be small. Unlike some other guys, there is enough interest in Yarran to make a difference.

No chance of going to freo as there going after the gws player. No chance of gws giving up a good pick as they need them for there academy, and lastly there has been no interest from adelade at all so far so i doubt he goes there, his going to Richmond deals likely done.

Carlton gave Yarran permission to have discussions with Richmond in the latter part of the year one of the meetings was with Hardwick
That's why it was allowed
Rich/ Carl have good standings with one another and this deal was settled awhile ago
Just what is being exchanged for him we will all have to wait and see

Rumor has it Melbourne have been in contact with Yarran, he is open to a move to the Dees...The competition will drive his price up ever so slightly, he'll go to whoever makes us a better offer.

Yep, and we'll take Lennon and your 3rd rounder. As has been reported today as well.
If lennon was to leave which i doubt happens it would be a straight swap. Also asbury might be going to Brisbane with our second pick also meaning we get there pick at around pck 20 which is fair for yarran

That sounds like rule breaking. A contracted player being approached by and then meeeting with another club half way through a season.

That's why I've always taken that report as BS.

No other player has ever been reported to meet with another club at that time of the season regarding the following season.

Maybe Carlton knew and sent him with their blessing

You have to satisfy Carlton who didn't succumb to Henderson's wants. Will happen like the Hampson trade. Both are contracted. SOS shouldn't copy the Cats who dumped Christensen for a spud in Stanley/pick 21.

Get Lennon who could bleed blue like Docherty and Buckley. Hope we can get Rice if he chooses Carlton and does similar. Might be another half back, but if he's Carlton an tough utility like his Dad, then get him in to replace Yarran. Plus SOSOS.

Attitude doesn't count with clubs chasing Carlisle who had a poor year and Bennell who is erm, yeah. Yarran has a buyer who also wanted Hampson.

Im hearing alot of rumors right now a deal has been agreed to be both clubs

Your not fooling anyone.

Is it that hard to believe Yarran could be open to a move to Melbourne?

While i concede he is most likely going to end up at Richmond, people do change their minds....

Also, he hasn't actually come out and publicly nominated Richmond himself yet, like Dixon did with Port.
Which likely indicates he's still weighting some things up before he makes a concrete decision. Garlett does play for Melbourne...

Not sure why we'd invest 8 years into a pick 6 who now has over 100 games to only trade him for a crappy 2nd rounder and an average player.

You must give quality to get quality Tiges, there's a reason he's going to command 450k a season.

You're*

And I didn't hear it another poster on the Blues rumor page posted it. But it isn't to far of a stretch to think he might go to anyone one of the other Vic teams, nothing tying him to Richmond but rumor and innuendo. What does he or I gain by posting it on BF? Recruiters aren't reading these threads (sorry to burst your bubble).
