I rock yarran is a very talented player and agree with u he aint worth pic 12, himself and hendo playing poorly at years end, a good example is polec of lions was pitiful but wanted to leave and whollah shines big time at port, same with Elliot Yeo from lions, goes to west coast and is a different player...
Even Lake (albeit older) body way out of shape and losing form goes to hawks and gets his body into tip top shape and rediscovers his form....
All im saying is Yarran's a talent "skillful and quick" and a new environment can do wonders...
Yarran at pic 12 is overs and pic 30+ is under's but with no bias can say his worth is around the 20's....

I don't rate Yarran and there are Players on the list to develop into that HB run and carry roll on the Richmond list. His dropping of his head this year showed what lack of character the bloke has and is not the sort of qualities the RFC need IMO. Fact is Yarran is nothing more than a dime a dozen outside player that may look good on a few highlight reels. If he ends up at Tigerland then he will look good in the games that Richmond dominate, however history shows he will squib when the heat and pressure is on.

chris Yarran us easily worth #12 but has been playing in a shit team thats got no leadership,Shit Coaches and 3rd rate administration
His best years were when Ratten was there and Carlton were competitive but once matlhouse came in and they turn to shit - Chris was seen as the player to shut down to prevent their run.
This wont happen at Richmond and he will not get tagged & will run riot and become devastating, Think Isaac Smith , Stephen & Brad Hill
Yarran will be very very different player at Richmond - He will become the player that was meant to become when drafted
With a good pre season and improved fitness under a proper professional fitness regime and mentoring from Chocco williams and Dimma Hardwick Yarran has the abilty to become one of our best players.
Pick #12 is a bargain and if i was a carlton supporter i would be Bleeding about losing such a talent

Which is exactly why you have to pay up - Yarran is a better pick up for the right Club than any other trade this year.
Fair enough u dont rate him but most others do and most agree he's around pick 20+, Drummond and Castagna in a few years will give us good run and hardness but they are still very raw...
I mentioned players can drop their heads yeo/polec etc when not wanting to be in a particular environment and u cant blame yarran just look at the blues, malthouse, lack of leaders the list goes on, at Richmond he wont be tagged and if he does watch others run riot....he'll be good for us...
I remember that vividly crowd was going offfff....so wanted JON to kick that would've brought the house down!
I agree we should pay #12, But wouldn't mind seeing us getting him for less if we can.
I also think that we shouldnt have given up #28 for Hampson and all Carlton supporters knew he wasnt worth that and in the benefit of hindsight he was a 3rd round selection which all tiger supporters knew and all carlton supporters told us as well but only after the trade was complete
So #12+#31 for Yarran+#20 is a good deal for both , Works out to be #19 under the new points structure

The 2014 highlight video against st kilda, he takes the ball at the half back line and it looks like he is jogging through the middle of the park, look at montagna behind him literally running as hard as he can. Yarran is gaining more and more space with every step as he looks like he is jogging. Looks like he had another 4 gears.
Ridiculous.

Those people talking about giving pick 12 should take a long hard look at themselves. You don't give your first pick for a bloke who has
a. had a shocking season
b. has shown serious mental fragility
c. sooked it up so obviously over an entire year and in the past for being subbed by MM
d. has been dropped for discipline reasons
e. Not to mention there has been not too much other interest for him this off season and Carlton want him out
Giving up pick 12 for Yarran would be paying overs. Akin to giving up our end of first round pick for Jordan McMahon.
Yarran has loads of POTENTIAL and should be good for us but who is to say that he will get over the mental issues he had this year.
I personally think the club is spot on in their assessment of his worth - somewhere between 15 and 25 and as you can pretty much throw a blanket over that lot of players in this years draft anywhere in there is fair.
I'd be thinking that we would be trying to get a pick for Astbury somewhere in that range. While he hasn't had continuity for us he is a KPP that is coming into his prime and has PROVEN that he can lock down power forwards. Has neat skills, very high aerobic fitness and is a solid character. Ideal for a club such as Brisbane that needs players who want to be there, can buckle in for the long hall and need leadership.

If Yarran was a Free Agent, what compo would he be worth this year ? Would not be a late first round pick.
SOS admitted Carton are in a "rebuild". so keep Yarran around these youngsters so they can learn the demeanor of a player who does not want to be there. Fantastic for their development. Just keep him on the pine in the VFL side ? We will get him for nothing next year.
