why the fck would you go to the bloos amongsth all their turmoil? Literally the only wrong choice he can make is go somewhere like Carlton and it turns to poo out of not fault of his own and he get tarnished by the same brush as Ratten/Malthouse/Bolton/Teague

why not take a year (paid) and chill and chose you’re next project carefully

Interestingly Foxsports writes that Clarko will be owed $450K from Hawks...Always been $900K that's been referred to, so a reduced amount must've been agreed to with his non-reappointment (or sacking)... Also says that amount will come under our soft cap. Someone on this board suggested that amount under the soft cap would be $75K (IIRC)...Its hard to know whats more accurate out of Bigfooty posters and professional journalists.

I don't think he was ever going to go to a club that was sacking a contracted coach. He's been very vocal over the years about this kind of thing, and had a poke at Carlton for coach-hopping only a few days ago. There will be some VERY nervous out of contract coaches at the end of 2022 though.

It is pretty straightforward. We gave him a contract. If it was entirely up to Clarko, he'd have seen out the contract , and that was his first preference. Circumstances didn't allow it, so now we are paying him for the contract period that we agreed to pay him. If you've got a problem with this outcome, contact Jeff who architectured this mess.

Is there any coach other than Ratten who coached Carlton this century and then managed to get a senior gig elsewhere after their (usually laughably short) tenure at Carlton? They already killed the careers of two previous super coaches in Pagan and Malthouse, so you can see why Clarko would be a little hesitant.
