You can see why people hate Collingwood supporters. Luckily not all of them are like this, some are almost decent. Eddie did the right thing and sacked the Cheer squad, making them reapply, sadly the ground security is generally gutless in these situations.

Well I was standing about 2 bays around from this group and did not hear them sing this song all night (left with about 15 mins to go). Heard them sing a few songs with swear words but security were with them all night and they had no problems with them at all. Unless it was another group (i doubt it) then I heard nothing and was not drunk. They hate Joffa and when he puts the gold jacket on they chant, 'Joffa is a w***er' so he is sure to come out and bag them.

Still opposition fans love to boo Didak despite the fact he has never been charged with anything and he gets far worse than that, after all he was not involved in what Hudson went on to do but that does not stop opposition fans from accusing him of all sorts of things.

Still I guess that's OK (and yes Geelong fans do it).

not confined but intensified by the morons that follow your mob. Each week something new, each week some tool will defend them.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. The ferals that creep up from Corio are some of the worst I have seen. Middle aged men more interested in taunting opposition fans than enjoying the form your team has been in for the last 3 years. I saw some utterly disgusting displays during the prelim in 07 where your supporters had no interest in celebrating victory.

I have seen violence out of your mob at home and aways at the dome too. Very quick to critise are Geelong but you have some of the worst but are lucky that as you play at a piss ant toy ground opposition supporters can't get in to get the 'Geelong' experience.

I'm pretty sure there is a difference between booing a player which doesn't imply anything and what the Collingwood fans were doing.

I guess that could explain why Ablett moved from the City end to the Punt Rd end at half time. I was pretty much walking beside him as I was going back to my seat at the end of half time and he was going to the Punt Rd end.

The dude at the gate to the AFL members wasn't going to let him cut through but then realised who it was.

Just another of the litany of incidents that reinforces peoples views on Collingwood supporters..they have so many anti social low lifes amongst them that it must embarrass the decent Pies fans out there.

While we may not like it, it happens and it would happen with every clubs supporters. To single out one club would be ridiculous

There seems to be more and more of the soccer element creeping into our game and unless something (and I don't know what) is done, we could start to experience some serious violence at our games.

Everyone thinks Joffa is a w***er so the more that sing it the better.

You fail to get the point of the thread that the security staff yet again fail to protect the normal fan at the footy. While this time (and the last 2 or 3 reported incidents have been Your mob), Ive seen violence out of every club over the last 20+ years. Ive seen idiots from Geelong, Dogs, Hawks, Fitzroy even Melbourne supporters however Ive also seen so many security staff run the other way when they are anywhere near an argument.

What is this, pick on Collingwood supporters month?

Fans behind the fence taunt players on the field all the time! Ablett Snr used to cop it left-right and centre. And since when was this restricted to Collingwood supporters? Everyone does it!

Herald Sun love to sensationalise and choose a scapegoat to taunt.

No apologies needed! Collingwood supporters don't need to be put on the defensive every single week. Enough!

Harden up Ablett!

To be fair Ablett didn't complain , or wasn't aware of it. Even if he did , he would have heard it many times before. I'm looking forward to Chris de Kretser's emotional follow up, to things that get said at the footy about Alan Didak and Stephen Milne , and the vicious groups that do it.

No. Fault does not lie with Ablett in this case.

You're condoning unacceptable behaviour Ant.

It wouldn't matter which team scum like this support, taunting Ablett Jnr about his father's shortcomings is just not on.

Give me a break, what do you think this is, the opera?

I've been going to the footy for a long time, and not just Collingwood games. Crowd taunting and teasing players has been happening since I can remember.

Didak cops it every week, do you see any Collingwood fans kicking a fuss? It's footy FFS!

This is a non-topic, it isn't even news. HS have virtually invented a story out of nothing. They took Collingwood, used Hughesy from Nova as a source (wow, really credible, a comedian and a Carlton supporter) and put pen to paper.

Really makes you wonder if the people complaining about this sort of thing are also campaigning about how soft the game has gotten. I'm quite sure Collingwood and other Teams players cop unjustified sprays from oppoisition fans all the time but because its Collingwood it becomes news?
Far out I really am starting to become sick to death of Journalism in Australia

It doesn't matter that you can't see that this is unacceptable.

Let that define you as it has defined 200 of your kind.

If Darren Millane had a son who started playing for Collingwood. You'd be prepared to "harden up" and not be "kicking up a fuss" if 200 opposition supporters began an organised sledge about his father ? I'd be prepared to lay money that most Collingwood supporters would consider that to be disgusting.

Yes the Hawthorn version is annoyingly good, especially when Mark Williams is kicking goals.

Haha, we were rather loud on Sunday. :D Usually no trouble, one bloke came up ready to start swinging which had cops asking us to move on, then decided just to sit around to keep an eye on things.

My response?

The singing side of these 'grog squads' are fun. From experience in the Hawks one at least, wich no offensive language used in them.

Was it wrong to sing about Abletts situation, maybe, maybe not. Imo, this is a massive non issue.

Maybe you should focus on your own backyard if you think this is so abhorrent, instead of lecturing us.

Actually I don't recall a media frenzy or the Millane family airing disgust over the bad-taste but seemingly inevitable "red all over" and "a good start" jokes that were going around very soon after his death.

But you'll find a thicker skin than normal is a necessity for a pies fan. ;)

why is anyone compairing the didak booing and what was done to ablett on thursday night? didak, has been involved in certain situations, all of his own doing. ablett on the other hand, thats his dad, he had no power, it has nothing to do with him. its is pathetic that anyone could sink so low, is that all they can think of, oh the man is a super star and can do know wrong, so lets take a crack at his dad instead. This is an issue, and i dnt mind a bit of sledging or banter but this is not relevant and has nothing to do with gary ablett jnrs actions. of course this got printed, and "pick on collingwood month" so supporters putting another players dad in hospital, that getting picked on is it? right... there are a large number of supporters that need to clean up there act, not just from collingwood, though we there is obviously a few issues there. A few groups within the community need to remember that footballers are people to, and it is not our right to judge them for incidents they where not involved in. it just shows how low people must stoop to try and upset the greatest player in our league
