All valid points, but my point was if he was stead fast in leaving alah Saad, 2 firsts straight up, values him, higher, than Treloar, Shiel and any other mid that has been traded the last 5 years

Your trading in SPS with a 2nd round pick, so that trade is basically moot... you'd be better off using the 2 1sts to try in trade in another premium mid to continue your push back to the top 4...
We are trading in SPS?

Last year Tom Papley wanted a trade to Carlton, a year later he signed back with Sydney.

Oliver is too good to trade out without getting an established star back. If we can’t convince him to stay next year then we’ll trade him when he’s out of contract.

You can’t just trade those 2 firsts for another premium mid, there needs to be a premium mid available and then you need that player to want to come to your club.

If Carlton want Oliver next year, they are going to need to entice Melbourne with more than draft picks

Yes with your 2nd round pick

Valid, but not talking about next year, it's a hypothetical IF he's stead fast on leaving this year...

Star yes, but like I previously said, players like Shiel and Treloar before him were traded for picks. 2 firsts (I'd even throw in a future 2nd due to him being in contract) with nothing coming back rates him higher than both of them (which he should be)

That's the whole balancing act, IF this was all true wouldn't the Dees be already looking around?

Again not talking about next year, as you stated plenty can happen in 1 year...

But like others have said, this is all bullshit and won't happen :)

I know it won’t happen. It’s Carlton fans dreaming.

Would Melbourne entertain Tim Membrey and our first round pick?

Love Tim with all my heart but I think he will start to become surplus for us as we find bigger roles for King and Marshall moving forward.

Clayton Oliver, number one in the league for contested possessions and clearances, 2 x best and fairest winner, 1 x All Australian and back in the 40 man squad this year, just turned 23 and you’re offering Tim Membrey and pick 15?

If Max King isn’t part of the package you shouldn’t be asking about Oliver.

If Melbourne get treloar would they consider trading oliver ?
I would be ****ing pissed off if we lost Oliver for Treloar

He is more valuable than any of those players and considerably so. You can't teach someone to get the ball like that. Put a good system around him (which he currently does not have) and that builds a competitive advantage over most other sides.

Absolutely no chance. You would have paid more for Hill.

You're right it does value him higher, because he's better/more valuable.

Not sure where the SPS thing came from, not sure he'd hold a lot of interest. You need to be thinking P7 and either McKay or Walsh.

Clarry is 23 and is already one of the best players in the game. Hes not potential, he's already a star.

For Clayton Oliver? Tim Membrey and a pick in the late teens? Jack Steele or Brad Hill may be closer.

If Blues want a 23 year old contracted All Australian in Oliver they'll have to unlock access to a player of similar stature. Hard to see how they would that without having to sacrifice one of their own elite players directly to Dees or to a third party. That is why it would be a very difficult deal to be completed.

As a replacement if oliver wanted to leave. Which is highly unlikely

Treloar is barely a "replacement" for Angus Brayshaw if he wanted to leave. But you had the premise around the other way previously.

If Melbourne get treloar would they consider trading oliver ?

No. Treloar has talent but he is not at Oliver's level. And his recent injury injury record goes to availability going forward.

You'll need to sacrifice one of your elite talents or unlock one from a third party.

Exactly.

Carlton fans saying "yeah but you can use those 2x 1sts to trade in a premium mid".

Like okay, you want Melbourne to ship off a contracted player early in trade week, then bend over backwards to find a midfielder, convince him to come then orchestrate a trade in what, 2 weeks? Would be utter stupidity and far too much work which can be better spent elsewhere. You just keep in and back yourself in. Simple.

This is a joke, right?

Would rather not have SPS, Carlton would need to trade one of it's quality players for Oliver.

All of this is pointless considering it's all bullshit.
This is borderline moronic, attracting quality players to join your club does not mean you need to give up one of your own quality players or else why bother trading in the player in the first place you gain nothing.

That response isn't borderline moronic, it's completely moronic.

So you expect to get quality by not giving up anything of value?
