If Pert was shopping him then why is it reported that the meeting with Geelong was a surprise? How the **** can it be a surprise if you are shopping him.

Geelong sound keen as mustard on him and will need to pay up.

CEO Pert tries shopping him discretely, but it gets out.

Clayton is offended and his management sets meeting with Cats, unbeknownst to Melbourne in response.

All parties playing the same game.

Sounds like you lads are investing pretty heavily in this.

Fancy having multiple meetings with a bloke whose contract you don’t like and you have no collateral for.

Start preparing to be disappointed if this goes through. It won't be for nothing but it won't be for much.

We had multiple meetings with Travis Boak 10 years ago but he decide to stay at Port.

Oh well we just moved onto another bloke who has won a brownlow and a premiership with us and now is our captain

As for the contract and capital, loy of things driving down Oliver's value so clearly we see a path for this to happen if we are putting in this effort.

lol this whole thing bores me. No way this happens. Why would melbourne do this when we can wait until next year when clubs can offer 2 first round picks?

Another non story and mainstreamers getting caught up in trade radio lol
2 first round picks? Depending on how much of his contract Geelong pick up, you’ll be lucky to get a 2nd

Always that one bloke who rolls out this classic line in a Bigfooty trade thread.

Dees have form holding blokes to contract so if we let him go on the cheap it’s telling.

After what he produced this year and then rumour of a big rift with Petracca which forced him to do what he did, does those things count???

You would find most players who have 3 injuries and no pre season don’t perform at 100%, hardly surprising.

Sorry but I call bullshit on Geelongs salary cap.
Doesn't pass the pub test.
We only have about 4 players contracted beyond 2026.

We've got half a dozen premiership players that won't be on our list from next year, replaced with guys like Ollie Dempsey and Lawson Humphries.

That premiership team also had a good chunk of players that came from the rookie list, so aren't on big bucks even after resigning, Stengle being the exception.

Sometimes I think people see us linked to players and add their value to our salary cap but never remove them if the trade doesn't happen

It’s always the same story that ‘our stars take unders’. Now watch the narrative that Hawkins retirement has freed up all the cap room for this raid.

Get told all year our list is shit but now it flips to they are all stars who must be on millions

Make up your bloody mind

The narrative all year was that Chris Scott is some genius coach taking a bunch of spuds to a top 4 spot. Now we've got superstars on every line.

p.s. The Perry Man would be our 2nd highest paid player.
