If we were able to get him for what was reported (packet of chips) then even if he managed worse than this year's performances, he would still be our third best midfielder, ahead of Bowes & Atkins.

I see he's back to promoting alcohol consumption on Instagram 🤣

Geelong dont care about that remember.

They just traded in a known party goer who was smart enough to have photos published of him on a bender.

Plus Stengle another "reformed" party goer.

And Geelong were keen on Oliver as well.

Bit of a pattern emerging here. Maybe it isnt the cheap house and land packages that make Geelong so attractive?

Ok, I've seen enough. Oliver came back to pre-season training grossly out of shape. Yes, still in better shape than last season but grossly out of shape none the less which shows that he hasn't been putting in the work. He's got 4 months to lose 6-8kg but I don't see it happening. Not looking good for his upcoming season.

I have to agree with you Danny boy. When Goody and Clarry embraced each other like two long lost lovers at training today, Goody grabbed his love handles……..

Clarry could hardly run 20 meters today…..

haha, yeah. I said, we will know at the start of pre-season what season he is in for. He's had enough time to lose the weight. He could've lose the 8kg (as an estimate) since the end of the season with dieting.

Too much coke in his drinks at Revs and kebabs on Chapel St at 10 am most mornings. You’d think he could have soda in his drinks and stick with sausage McMuffin meal deals.

That’s what you get when you pay a person too much money…. They can afford kebabs instead of Maccas…….

Hmmmmm…….

Ironically if he did a ton of coke he'd have lost the weight

The reason I wasn't keen on getting Oliver is because if Melbourne were willing to let him go then that infers by itself that he is too far gone.

The problem for Melbourne if he doesn't turn it around next season is that other clubs won't be as confident in their ability to turn him around either.

If I was Melbourne I would have just cut him loose this trade period.

I wouldn’t listen to Dan the Man fella’s. Clarry is looking ok. He could be a couple of kilos lighter but it’s his first day back to the club and he didn’t need to be there. Monday week is when he is due back.

Cutting short his off season break speaks volumes to his commitment to the Dee’s.

Define ‘cut loose’ on this situation. He’s on over million a season for 6 more seasons. It’s a far more complex situation than you are making out.

Trade him. We don't know what Geelong were offering pick wise and how much they expected Melbourne to contribute towards the salary but if Geelong's future first was on the table as mooted, I would have bitten Mackie's hand off for it if I were Melbourne.

Yeah but Geelong wasn’t taking most of his salary. And I also heard perhaps a F1 wasn’t the offer. I think you’ll find Geelong and Melbourne would have maybe sorted something out if the deal was renegotiated.

it's good that he's back but you absolutely should be paying attention to the shape that he's in because if he was professional he would've arrived back ripped.

you don't have to wait until preseason starts before training.

You are talking as if Clarry is out of shape to the point he won’t be fit for round 1 next year. One thing Oliver has never been accused prior to last year is his training and fitness. Gotta give a man a break for having personal issues.

He’ll be right Danny. Just wait and see without judgement.

he'll be fit for round 1 because he was unfit all of last year and we still played him because he's a jet and him at 50% is still much better than a 100% fringe player. But I do think it sets a bad standard for the playing group.

I think we tried pretty hard to cut him loose. but it was just a terrible time to cut him loose. i.e. to Geelong who had already committed to Bailey Smith and no other picks.

I think he will lift again next year but not to previous levels but enough to satisfy the Cats to hand over 2 x 1st round picks in next years trade period.
