So he did a good kick once...
No a few times, spotting up targets inside fifty. A brilliantly weighted kick over the head of an opponent that spotted up a guy running along the wing to half forward. Loved that breakaway clearance he had in his last game where he ran to half forward and nearly nailed a running goal but it was touched on the last line. Short but impressive highlights package.:)

Twice then..

In the wet game he was obvious as a class above, he just didn't get involved anywhere near enough.

I don't care what happens with Sylvia. If he stays the same our team doesn't change since he wasn't in it, if he puts his head down and works to the ball better next season then we stand to gain a lot.

His game against richmond at the MCG was very good. He was also Ill in that game and was going to be left out but the club was mindful of what the media would have done to him, and made him the sub.

Positive messages about Slyvia? What happened guys?

You had me worried for awhile, all this talk mentioning Slyvia in the past tense (positive talk), amidst list pruning time, I thought I was reading an obituary.

btw:

Slyvia > Suban.
Slyvia > MDB
Slyvia > Pearce.

There's plenty of room for our superstar to flourish next year.

Good to see him in top nick as well.

Dude...it's things like this which give off the impression you're just winding everyone up.

I still have hope from Sylvia, you've got to remember he's been stuck at Melbourne his whole career. I doubt Melbourne are as demanding on there players as Freo are so when he came over he would've got a massive shock as to how we do things.

By Ross not playing him much this year could work well for Sylvia as he now knows what he has to do to be in this team. Like someone said above, a bit like Clancee's efforts a couple years ago

Expecting him to have a big offseason and prove everyone wrong. He definitely has what it takes to be a key part of this team and I really hope he does just that.

I've got faith in ya Col

I'll reckon he'll be a bit like Brock McLean for Carlton. Struggled early at a decent club and then went on to become one of their key midfielders

Toss up as to what was the worst call, Sylvia or that crock Gumbleton, terrible decisions both of them.

Sylvia will come good, Gumbleton was always going to be a gamble. Speaking of terrible decisions... How about Higgins for Greenwood, I know who I would rather have on my team!

Good to see he's keeping fit in the off season. Not really sure were he fits into the squad though.

I'm sure we'll find a spot for him. The more we have who can run through the midfield and play forward the better. I'm liking the comment - 'thanks for the session this morning' coupled with 'see ya tomorrow'.
Long way to go Col. You have rightfully earned our wrath this year but given the low trading profile, the improvement must come from within in 2015. Sylvia is coming off such a low base and can make a major contribution.

I'd like to know who from the squad has had offseason operations or will be delayed for preseason if anyone knows. Mora (knee) is one.

We paid nothing much for Gumby. It was nice to give him one last chance, he really put the effort in but just couldn't cope physically. North are being risky with their selections to. They remind me of what Freo did in the early 2000s when we got a sniff.

Reasonable call, however I have no doubt that Higgins will be a vastly different and better player under our system.

The ideal scenario is that Sylvia and Walters rotate through the midfield / forward line exchanging positions etc. I'm pretty sure that Sylvia will be in top nick for pre-season and the only thing that may get a hold of him is injuries.

He was never going to make it, there was ample medical evidence available to support that opinion. He may well have cost very little but he did occupy a place on your list that could've and should've gone to a more worthy prospect. I don't entirely agree with your view re the similarity between us and Freo re the early 2000's. However, I will say we like most teams make selection errors.
I have to admit to having a soft spot for Freo, I am a strong supporter of your Coach and the way he goes about his business and I would like nothing more than to see Freo gain the ultimate prize as long as it's not at our expense. What does concern me is the obvious lack of activity during this trading period thus far, I feel that for Freo to improve sufficiently to reach the top they desperately need two key position players one at each end of the ground with absolute emphasis on a goal kicker. If only it was that easy.
