Hopefully not into the top 40 picks in the draft in his draft year otherwise we don't get him.
That is no longer a thing, which is how essendon got kako.
Its been removed. You can now match a bid anywhere in the draft

I think Eli will be our highest prospect in 2027, wouldn't be surprised if he is a first rounder with his power, goal kicking ability.
Cooper might be next. Ted, depends how he develops. and then there is Luke De Valle. A few. Though with the change in points, you'd want some to go later.

That's not specific. That's just looking at what his role is and suggesting that he's done a good job at it.

It doesn't say anything about what his strengths are or why he'd be in any way uniquely difficult to replace via another qualified candidate.

Josh Fraser has taken his job, and you could say exactly the same things about Josh.

Bit of a tough ask to get specific about strengths of assistant coaches - let alone those lower down the coaching totem pole.

Moore in yesterday’s ABC interview talked about players talking up the importance of development coaches in developing the players they become. Talked of McRae’s influence when he and Cox started at the club as an example. Strongest theme was the relationship they build with the players, the willingness to go the extra mile. Hardly specifics that can’t be found elsewhere.

What specifics do you have about any of the current AFL development coaches? And would you trust those specifics?

Cooper ran a 11.22 for his 100m heat. Not his best by a long mile. But you don't want to put everything into the heat, just enough to qualify for the final.
He came 2nd. He's prob got two main competitors in the final. Jamison Cox (who pipped him in the vic all schools comp) and Lachlan Bynes who pipped him in this heat.
I admire your dedication Jen but not sure we should be tracking the athletic results of 15 yo possible NGA recruits

you're right. No more athletic talk.

Will be interesting to see if he gets selected in the U16 final squad. Same goes for Eli, Ted and Luke De Valle. I think they are our mains for 2027

Hey, for me personally it's interesting to note he has a good set of wheels.

If he makes it that's a great thing to have in your tool kit.

For sure! Pace like that could a real asset. Let’s see how his footy progresses the next few years. If he gets selected in oakleighs 16 squad this year we’ll get to see him play a few games. Champs mid year

Hopefully the club are putting in the required recourses to make it work.
GC is apparently next level with what they put into thier academies.

Sydney and GWS have also in recent years really pumped money into it. And it's paying off for all of them.

Apparently most other clubs put very, very little time into it.

From what ive heard, they are gonna be putting more resources into the academy, and it would be a good thing given you can now have access to top talent.
Northern academies generally spend 1M into their systems.

The AFL fund the Northern Academies.
The clubs run them and the clubs keep the best players.

Dispite this the AFL decided that NGA's needed to be capped at not matchable up to Pick 40 (after IQ and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan) backlash.

NGA's were first introduced in 2017, a key objective of the NGAs is to increase the talent pool of Indigenous and multicultural players. After 7 years of NGA and NA there was only one indigenous player drafted in 2024 dispite six Northern Academy players being picked up (Lombard, Marshall, Gallop, Cochran, Bell, Smith) and four Next Generation Academy players (Kako, Andrew, Anderson, Hoffmann).
One indigenous player, Cody Anderson, picked up after 7 years of suposed development to increase the indigenous talent pool is embarrassing.

Reckon the assessment of NGAs and Northern Academies even more so, would go a bit deeper than the number of draftees. Participation rates etc

Why do Melbourne get such handouts?

Sorry, was I whining?
"why did we let Harmit Singh get poached by Sydney?"

You have absolutely no idea whether he is a significant loss because you don't know anything about what he was good at. Maybe he was encouraged to look elsewhere because we actively wanted to replace him.

You saying he was "poached" suggests he is a significant loss in some way, when you actually have no idea.

So yes, assuming that a loss you otherwise know NOTHING about is some kind of great detriment to the footy department is whining.

Here's me just thinking I was asking a question.

Poached means he was contracted to Collingwood and left to join another club.
It has no inference as to his ability or lack thereof.

FWIW it has been noted that "Harmit Singh was told his role was shrinking and he would be reporting to Andy Otten and not direct to Fraser."
So in effect he was being demoted.

That would suggest that we didn't rate him overly highly, no?

So going by this part, I assume he'll take over Singh's role?

experienced educator and development coach Steve Grace to deliver programs focussed on Next Generation Academies (NGA), Peter Daicos Academy and driving fan development, engagement and talent outcomes for boys and girls, nationally.

I wonder who takes over the NGA/FS academy now Singh is gone.
Is this related to some changes?

'The Club’s commitment to the community and fostering the next generation of fan, member and talent sees the creation of a new initiative titled Future Magpies. As part of this new program, Collingwood has appointed experienced administrator Gerard Jess, former AFL players Lynden Dunn and Dom Tyson and experienced educator and development coach Steve Grace to deliver programs focussed on Next Generation Academies (NGA), Peter Daicos Academy and driving fan development, engagement and talent outcomes for boys and girls, nationally.'

yeah, sounds like the program will be expanded.
