Didn't see a thread on this already, (please delete if there is one) but just to let everyone know Collingwood have set the new Home attendance record, which was set by Essendon in 1999.......

They got 45,570 vs Sydney last night at the TD (should've been at the MCG), so here is the top 5....

http://stats.rleague.com/afl/crowds/summary.html

Home attendances

1. Collingwood- 651,375 (59,215) 2008
2. Essendon- 630,399 (57,309) 1999
3. Collingwood- 603,881 (54,898) 2007
4. Essendon- 603,830 (54,893) 1998
5. Collingwood- 581,718 (52,883) 2006

They'll also set the 2nd highest Away attendance record, currently sitting on an 56,084 average with the Freo match left to play, that game should attract between 32-35k so they'll fall short of last years record.

Away Attendances

1. Collingwood- 622,723 (56,611) 2007
2. Collingwood- 560,846 (56,084) 2008
3. Collingwood- 583,264 (53,024) 2006
4. Carlton- 576,275 (52,388) 2008
5. Essendon- 575,466 (52,315) 2000

Carlton slot into 4th spot after their impressive 34k against Brisbane, just pipping Essendons 2000 away average.

For the season, Collingwood will also take out the new H/A season attendance record, unless a hail storm hits Perth this coming weekend and <13,000 turn up.

Here is the current table:
1. Collingwood- 1,214,190 (57,819) 2008 (1 game to play)
2. Collingwood- 1,226,604 (55,754) 2007
3. Essendon- 1,169,551 (53,161) 1998
4. Collingwood- 1,164,982 (52,953) 2006
5. Essendon- 1,124,805 (51,127) 2001

We're also set to break the all time h/a season attendance record set last year (6,475,521 at an av. of 36,793).

The season total and average currently sits at (at the end of Rnd 20):
Total: 5,984,026
Average: 37,400

The Numbers don't lie, but i'm sure the hordes of haters will be here soon to argue the facts.

I can hear them coming :(

We hold all the significant crowd records and we did it with less MCG Games then the Bombers. The one and only crowd KINGS.

HORGHHHHHHHH.

There is the first barb.

Don't get me wrong, this is an absolute testimate to the Collingwood supporters. It doesn’t matter if they are shithouse or average, they keep coming out. It takes real passion to put up with that. I would have to elevate them above Richmond fans. Their drought hasn’t been as long, but the sheer weight in numbers is impressive.

Well done Collingwood for attracting more people to watch you finish fifth than any club before you.

So many nuffies:p

Mmmm.

If crowds awarded premierships, you could get one.

It's a good thing they all support mediocrity on field.

dead set a simple - well done collingwood would have suffice

I guess its good that they rock up at all considering some of the crowds getting around at the moment.
