The more I think about the Dogs KPP situation, the more likely I think Naughton or JUH will leave.

They’re overflowing with KPPs and have just got Jones & will get Lobb.

Hopefully we are in Naughtons ear.
Haven’t Freo declined Lobbs trade request? Have I missed something?

It’s very frustrating that Henry and DeGoey have not announced their intentions. Both have had plenty of time to negotiate and sign or confirm intention to leave. Doesn’t reflect particularly well on either of them.

Can you guys understand why so many people are confused with Grundys so called salary dump to the dees?
Or is there more too it them meets the eye?
Technically there is no salary dump why?
Grundy on 900k-1m , replacement Mcstay 5yr deal on at least 600k.
Too most of us we question the longertivity of the Mcstay deal? which runs as long as the Grundy deal.
So we still pay the same amount of money for a lesser player including 300k to dees every yr for 5 years.
Only benefit one first rounder?
Is there a possibility the Grundy deal will be worth 2 first rounders? just thinking here.Especially if we are paying 300k grundy tax for the next 5 years?

Looks then like no salary dump, but a good enough deal for us!
Grundy for mcstay +:2 first rounders with no salary dump
It wouldn't surprise me that there may be more than a simple salary dump when you consider the protagonists.

The entire focus of the new regime is total commitment to the summit - at all costs - that's not an opinion it's a direct observation of our onfield performances in the back half of this season.

There’s no way the Demons are giving us two firsts, but liked for “longertivity”.

Not really in the same ballpark.

It was Brodie +19 for a future 2nd. GC will be chasing a 1st rounder for Bowes + 7.
No they won’t. The Bowes contract is even worse than the Brodie one, GC are desperate to shed that $1.6m off the books. They’ll likely do it for one or two second rounders depending on how early/late they are.

Starting to think letting de goey go wouldn't be bad depending on the deal from st kilda. 2 firsts required.

IF the following took place:

Pick 7 gold coast - take bowes on the full whack for 2 years (de goey money)(if 7 is a legit deal from suns)
Pick 9 Stkilda (De goey trade)
Pick 13 Fremantle ( Grundy trade 13 from Melbourne from Jackson trade)
Pick 16 Our pick
Pick 18 (for arguments sake we get it for Henry this year not next - Bruhn pick is a future)

Future first st kilda for Degoey trade (if that's what we can get)

Bowes in.
MCstay in.
Hill in.
Frampton in.
Bring in Mitchell (definite in this scenario with degoey out)
Maybe fiorini- let the bookeepers work it out.

Might have to lose WHE or someone to fit them all in.

Pick 7 Bailey humphrey - Mid
Pick 9 Matt Jefferson (personally not fully sold on him but Best available KPF)
Pick 13 Jedd Busslinger - Key Defender ( West coast won't take him at 2 and we would have Freos pick)
Pick 16 Szybkowksi, Hotton, Hollands, Weddle, Hayes , Hustwaite, or whoever slides.
Pick 18 Max Gruzwski Key forward or back.

Could set us up long term if we nail the picks. Covers required needs

Yea, but he’s already bought a house in south Melbourne. He’ll just not go back to Perth and then get traded next year for a 4th round pick.
Lol, he’s not going to break his contract terms and not get paid just because he’s bought a house. At worst he’ll rent the place out for 12 months then request a trade in 2023.

Reads bad especially given the future pick 2 trade for Poulter and McMahon. Digging deeper:

Chugg - rookie

Poulter - has ability, but fits better with the slow kick/mark 2021 game style than the fast kick/run ‘22 style.

Henry - talent isn’t an issue. Did he slide because he didn’t want to leave home even if it’s only 1 hour down the road?

McMahon - Hine(?) said post draft he was a needs based selection rather than best available despite being pick 30. We now look to be addressing that need via other means. That said I’m surprised he didn’t get another year considering Kelly, Tohill and Keane all got more time.

It’s somewhat offset by getting Ginnivan in the rookie draft albeit they’re bizarrely trying umpire him out of the game. Stephenson didn’t develop, but Ginnivan’s ‘22 is statistically similar to JS in ‘18.
Ginni has a much better attitude than Stevo. The kid plays with confidence but he's a lot less self-centred. Hopefully, dealing with the criticism early will help him later. He has a really good support network, too and that's important. I'm most proud of the fact he goes to AFLW games, immerses himself in the community, returns to his local community (a lot don't), helps kids living with a disability, etc - that's the kind of behaviour I'd like to see more of from JDG. His 'scandal' this year was rating imaginary women on TikTok. Ill-advised, a rookie-moment but not the most horrifying thing to see. Note to all: TikTok trends shouldn't be replicated.

That’s the big if. The thing is we would be getting rid of the only players in the last dozen or so drafts that have been good first round picks outside of those that have been handed to us.

If Bowes decides he wants to come to Collingwood, a deal will get done.
We are a destination club now, after all. ;)

Wait...What do people think GC are willing to accept for Bowes + 7? They're not going to do the deal for a 3rd rounder just to shed some salary.
Apparently so... They have reportedly offered pick 7 to any club that takes on Bowes salary of $800k for the next 2 years with a 3rd rounder in return. It is buyer beware where both the risk and reward his high. A player that has been in the system for 6 years and who has only played 83 games due to injury, form and the GC having a stack of mid-fielders (that's the risk of picking best available vs role needs. You end up with players being played out of position). However with the right opportunity he may be a reward. Reportedly, hard as nails, silky smooth skills and hits the scoreboard. However on the other hand $800k+ for two years is a lot of money for someone who has had multiple long-term injuries and who has been played out of position. Why? Isn't he good enough. However, it was he that told the GC he wanted to explore his options for more opportunities. He may be willing to spread his contract over 3-4 years as others have done in the hope of opportunity. The most recent that comes to mind is Will Brodie. GC has a shit load of picks this year and next. It is their hope of landing some big fish. Saving $600k on Rankine, if Fiorini leaves there is another reported $680k and if Bowes goes $800k+ it becomes a serious war chest (depending what has to be paid to current players to keep them)

It's really to prepare for Anderson and Rowell who'll demand massive contracts when their deals expire.

Not really. Depends if the suns are serious on 7. Grundy is gone.
So would be losing Jordy, not the absolute be all and end all as seen in prelim loss. Happy to keep him but could set our future if we let him go.
If st kilda coughed up two firsts and the suns are legit on pick 7 that 3 firsts for jordy.

Total commitment to the summit?
Most of us due to our love for the pies are looking at the Grundy deal in a glass half full way.
Grundy in his last game for us tore the bombers apart bog!
We would be in the G.F if we had a fit Grundy last week.
He has been our best consistent player barring his injury even with his 1 year form slump.

In my opinion there are 2 scenarios with the Grundy trade?
1.Dees pay for everything we get a second or third rounder. The fact we pay no Grundy tax for 5 years not a bad deal.

2 We pay 300k Grundy tax 5 years!
1. We get one first rounder+ mcstay depends how high the first rounder is? initially we loose but depends how good the first rounder is

2 ..2 first rounders for Grundy we pay 300k for Grundy +mcstay very good deal for us.

3. we pay Grundy tax for 5 years too dees with 0 first rounders + mcstay list managers should be sacked
