and honestly, if you are a 20 year old kid and you arent interested in moving to the city where you can actually encounter a diversity of people, experiences and viewpoints, and actually learn something beyond the local pub, then good luck to you

Collingwood is a bigger club with bigger people than that

I don’t see that Ollie has performed well enough to warrant a top 15 pick. That said, we all seem to agree we must obtain a top 15 pick for him based on his ‘potential’.

The reality is his trade currency almost certainly doesn’t match his potential and this is the problem. Therefore, this is why the club needs to make a stand and oppose the trade. Ollie, with full understanding of the clubs position, then has a choice of remaining a Pie or going to the PSD.

If he elects to stay and develop at Collingwood for 2 more years and then still wants to leave, his performances by that stage may make him worth a top 10 pick, and this would enable the club to entertain a trade.

He has performed every bit as well as Tanner Bruhn.

What’s Tanner worth?

Shocked that he’d be wearing Geelong gear at the Grand Final he attended to support his brother who plays for Geelong.

I’m of the opinion he’s leaving, to be clear, but he’d have been wearing that gear even if he wasn’t.
Childhood team as well.

It's hard to tell whether he'll leave. Collingwood has more opportunity and is yet to hit its peak. Geelong has family, friends and although he may not be in their firsts, surely their veterans will drop off and open the door for youth.

Big club culture and expectations are not for everybody to be fair, if it ain’t for Ollie then that’s fine.. don’t make it about money, just ask to be traded to a smaller club…any club. Maximise your chance of being traded.

The fact that he's even going tells me ain't going to change anything he does away from the club. 5 years is a long time without behavioral clauses
Am I the only one who doesn't gaf what players do on their annual leave? As long as it's not criminal who cares. If you train hard, buy in to culture and play well 🤷‍♂️It's the media who make mountains out of molehills.

Agree except when you end up on the wrong side of the law…some people just shouldn’t drink. Not to mention take drugs, there’s at least one player that I know of on a second strike. Jordy I imagine would be close as well.

The likelyhood is that Henry will ask to be traded to Geelong.
I hope i am wrong.
I have heard we are getting pick 40 or 43!
We hold the aces, if there is no deal done he can nominate for the preseason draft and i am not mistaken he lives in Geelong?
He will save 14 minutes 23 seconds travelling time going to Arden st rather then the lexus centre or whatever we call it these days.
The bottom line he aint going to Geelong if we do not strike a deal.
If they offer us scraps pick 40 and etc they can shove it were the sun dont shine! let him leave for nothing.
If Geelong offer us there present first rounder pick 18 or 19 he is worth more then that i wouldnt take it if i was wright.
There first rounder and future second rounder yes.
Pick 10 to 14 yes

I don't really care what they do either but it always seems to come back and bite the club. To me, the club is bigger than the individual. It's up to JDG to do what he wants to do but obviously the club don't trust him so whatever happens, happens

It's time some people came into the real world and not live in a fantasy. You're spot on

FWIW, He actually hasn't lived in Geelong since he was 18. Currently lives in Winsor.

lmao, from who? If you say from a Cats supporter on the trades board give yourself an uppercut.

Sure
But collingwood is about being the biggest and the best club and I think we should embrace that
Like Geelong has made a virtue of its unique characteristics, we should do also, because the collingwood experience you cant get elsewhere
So let the country living boys go to geelong
We should bring the players that crave the big stage and want to make an impact , both in footy and outside of footy

100% with you so you are not the only one.

Not even a close comparison!

It’s not living “in” Geelong. It’s the peninsula.
It’s any kid who comes from country Vic and don’t want to live in the city.
GC still have competition from Bris.

They have zero competition for them. So they never have to pay overs to retain them. They are “home”.
800k down the coast goes a lot further than 1.1 in the city!!
Last point is a good one. Maybe Cats needs a reverse COLA?

They are objectively the most advantaged club in the comp with regards to home ground and travel. They have an actual home ground, plus only need to travel an hour to play Melbourne teams at fairly neutral venues.

Then there is a definite draw for players who'd prefer to be out of the big city limelight. Geelong is the only option if you want to be in Victoria. This draw has continually increased over time with the greater media attention. Off field stuff was routinely over looked in earlier years.

So Geelong clearly have advantages. It may be that some of these are only showing up with the increase in player movement. Earlier in the VFL days it was more about the clubs with money than anything else. Then for much of the AFL period, players didn't have a lot of power.

If you want to equate the games Brown has played with those Fiorini has, be my guest. He has been established 22, such as in 2019, but he doesn't fit the new young midfield Dew is going for. Very similar to Lipinski insofar as slowly falling further and further out of favour, despite obvious capability.

Wow. I didn’t realize you were privy to Dew’s inner most thoughts and that it’s “fit the new young midfield” rather than the guys who are getting the opportunity just being better.

I’ve made my position pretty clear. I don’t want him. If he ends up signing with us he’ll have my full support which is probably more than you can say for many of those clamoring to sign him. I’ll leave it there.

And there lays the problem Phant.

The media do a huge beat up and it affects sponsorship - remember the time we lost sponsorship over someone/s drink driving and our sponsorship was about that?

It's about perception as far as sponsors are concerned and that goes for prospective sponsors too - the more players get caught doing stuff the media can do beat ups on the narrower a club's prospective sponsor pool.
