Thinking about how Geelong are possibly approaching the Bruhn trade and how this may apply to Henry, perhaps we need to consider other teams picks and players, equivalent to around a late 1st rounder in value (or more or less with other stuff going in or out). For e.g., we were obviously interested in Logue before North came knocking, but that's a fluid situation there now, so perhaps something could be worked out.

It definitely won't be a pick in the 40's, if Geelong are coughing up a first round pick for Bruhn.
Bruhn has played 30 games, kicked 11 goals and is average to below average in his career to date key stats. Whilst Henry has 25 games with 28 goals, and is average to below average in his career to date key stats.
They are comparable as players with potential, so Henry will have to be a first round pick, as the GWS will be expecting and asking for with Bruhn....

You’re comparing a midfielder with a 3rd tall forward for goals kicked…?

I hope we’re only after pick/s, Quicky
The higher the better

I’m getting a horrible feeling that we’ll be blindsided by DeGoey going to Geelong to replace a retiring Selwood.

Would make a hell of a lot more sense for him than going to St Kilda.

Wont happen, Cats are well known for having a flatter pay structure where everyone gets a fair slice of the pie.

Even if he does nominate for them they likely wont give him more than 800k per year over 5 years (probably not even that much) and if they did we could match it easily.

Anyone reckon the Grundy's likely departure is linked to luring other players such as Mitchell and Fiorini rather than getting McStay?

Ive got a feeling the Treloar (600/900K)/Stevenson (500k)/Beams (~450K) money is paying for McStay (600K), Hill, Lipinski, Krueger into 2023

Given we didnt have those recruits in 2021 that 1.5m helped clear Beams settlement and back ended contracts getting kicked down the road could ceased. Eddie did say we could have kept those players if we wanted to go that way, but took the recalibration approach before other clubs cracked

So this has me thinking that we could actually afford more players to come in? Mitchell 500k/Fiorini 350k from clearing Grundy? Or is this more of a move to get McStay?

I was hoping for a really good trade period but I think it’s gonna be another treloar smear campaign with grundy

Make us look like a bunch of c**ts again

Interesting few weeks I’m guessing

Yep, Sam Edmund is already taking the lead on that front again. Just like he did on the Treloar debacle.

He loves to sink the boots into us.

Honestly if we don't manage to bring in a Mitchell quality player and lose Grundy and Henry this trade period, we've gone backwards. Meanwhile Geelong is going to boost their premiership side with first round young talent in Bruhn and Henry.

We will never be the golden child of the media - thats just not our lot in life.

A contract is a two way deal with obligations on both sides. With big dollars come big expectations.

Grundy has not delivered. Simple as that.

Do you think Grundy and Henry will wait until after the Copeland before announcing their intentions?

Agreed we have to land a Mitchell to have a net benefit out of the player movement this trade period

Im not worried about Geelong. Hawkins and Selwood are 34 yo. Henry and Bruhn arent great replacements.

McStay was done months ago so yeah I would not be Suprised that Grundy going means we can go after Fironi and Mitchell and Hayes

Media just will shit on us about Grundy for next 2-3 Weeks

I don’t know enough about Bobby’s work ethics as yet. Hearing from GWS Mate, he’s a bit up and down so far.

All I know is most of these Indigenous players are naturally better than most other players.

When they apply themselves a bit more than their natural born talents, they can become great players.
If he’s stats are anything to go by he’s quite underwhelming. Hopefully things change, he sure does have talent.

Let them, key is for us as supporters not to buy into it.

The reality is Grundy has underperformed according to his contract, he would have undoubtedly been given the option to take a pay cut to stay…the coach has said we’d prefer to keep him. So really on the balance of it all, it’s on Brodie.

Anyone else think Sydney's youth have a lot of similarities to ourselves?
I kind of hope that some of our players turn out like some Sydney players.
Fin Macrae = James Rowebottom
Harvey Harrison = Chad Warner
Nick Daicos = Callum Mills
Arlo Draper = Ollie Florent

Also Bianco hopefully becomes similar to Sidebottom, Reef becomes similar to Crisp, Carmichael becomes similar to DeGoey will hopefully be pushing for best 22.

I know this is best case scenario, just a thought.

Yes, we have a lot of similarities.

Except, we lack an academy to steal talent.

Grundy demanded 7 years.
If you are not willing to work with and for the club then don't let the door hit you on the way out.
GW has the right idea, you don't get sustained success paying individuals way more than their terammates.
The Pie is only so big, everyoine gets a fair share if we want harmony
