Collingwood named as latest suitor in race for GWS star: AFL trade news

Collingwood have emerged as a suitor for Harry Himmelberg according to Sam McClure.

You can only trust the McClure as far as you can throw him though so I’d take it with a grain of salt.

If true though, it'd be interesting to see how we fit him in structually and salary cap wise.

I really rate him, I know a lot of others don't but he would be perfect for us. He is probably the best swingman in the comp. His versatility is exactly what fly would want.

Harry would be a very nice pickup for us. He’s a quality player, I’d love to see him at the Pies.

Checkers is flying but you'd have to have an eye on life after Checkers? McStay was a good start. Hopefully AJ stays and it's not a pressing issue.
Would dropping AJ for McStay make a bit of a statement to AJ's manager that he should maybe consider other options? I can't see how he gets dropped, he's too good to be playing VFL

I highly rate him also. His foot skills and speed would appeal to Fly also.

I find it hard to imagine Finn MacCrae being content to play in the VFL next year.
soreplums suggested Essendon have interest. You’d imagine doggies and others are watching too.
What’s he worth?
What could we get that would be of use?

I can only imagine him being worth round 3 pick on the market or a couple pick upgrades.

At best being on the outgoing side of a salary dump exchange for a high draft pick.

And I reckon Carmichael is in the same boat for value, but more likely to stay.
Trade Macrae for Ted Richards

Why would we want to make a statement to that effect? Natural attrition and week to week match ups will mean that we want and require a squad that's flexible and even across the board.

If Johnson is omitted in favour of McStay (or another forward), I'd expect the club to reinforce that it's a decision based on match-ups or structure, rather than a statement as to his worth or position in the team, as I can't see what Johnson has done this season to warrant being dropped either.

I like the part where we aren’t offering as much or as long as others, exactly how it should be given where we’re at.

Himmelberg concerns me. Is he that good? There will be a bidding war for him, what’s he worth? His stats are bog average. No better than mcstay on paper. Not worth the $ IMO

One thing I am getting more certain on is if you don’t have a top 5 pick in this draft you might as well not have a pick.

I would be using bare minimum picks and using rookie upgrades instead of picks where possible. And add some free agents if any decent available

I'm guessing if we are interested (hope we are), then he'd be replacing Kreuger on the list lol

I don't think we'll get rid of Freddy but the way he is going there is a chance he could be spending the rest of the year in hospital. That boy needs air bags

I thought this years draft was meant to be decent.

Unlike McLure I assume HH would be a defensive play unless future planning for life after Mihocek (it’d be a 5-6 year deal).
Howe is near the end, Murphy’s undersized and Frampton is still unproven. His footskills are the equal of Moore so it would be an exciting move from my perspective. Less convinced though if it’s as a fwd.

Edit: a further quick observation from me is if you want us to invest in talls on draft night this is a bad article for you. IMO, it further highlights an intent on our behalf to invest in talls of a known quantity.

Larkey would be a star at the Pies. What a waste

Starting to think Larkey is the man we go hard at.

He is a gun forward now.
