I think I’d rather keep Draper than Carmichael in the instance that Macrae asks for a trade.

I’d also be less worried about it given a certain #35 has taken more midfield minutes and almost pushed Mitchell out of the rotation and we have the option after another preseason of trialing Reef or even Beau in the guts.

I agree, I'd rather Draper too. Some of his skills makes you think..this boy has something. Just hasn't put it all together yet.

Got nothing to do with my point.
Name a player, that never turned it over or kicked the ball out on the full?

How many players could have hit Elliot with the pin point pass to win the game against Ess last year?

He's rated "Below Average" for disposal efficiency, so I would say most players on our list dispose of the ball better than him... and the eye test backs this up. Despite only averaging low disposals, he also averages a high amount of clangers (more than Taylor Adams for example).

I agree on Draper. He hasn't had a clear run due to injury & illness, but has the potential to be a really good inside mid - keep for at least another year.
Beau has shown he has the skills - loved his kick to Bobby in the last against Port.
I have a mind picture of a marauding Beau mowing down opposition mids and streaking forward to nail goals on the run.
We've seen him do it - we'll see it a lot more in the years to come.
Ed Allan will be one of our star mids going forward.

Draper isn’t going to make it.
Happy for him to be delisted.

Go watch the bulldogs VFL game. Last qtr.

He legit gave up 3 shots on goal on his own.
2 were horrible decisions/disposal.
The last one was blocking the ruck and a complete brain fade.

I was on board with keeping him, but that game showed me that he doesn’t have the game sense and mental side of it.

Happy for him to be a casualty.

From what I'm told about the Cox deal, and this comes from someone who has "ok-ish" links within the club so you may take this for as little or high value as you like (I personally tend not to believe things unless it comes straight from someone inside the club), the Cox deal is basically the cash he would've got on a one year deal, smoothed over 2 years with a little bit on top - with the majority of the money being paid in 2024.

Like I said - this comes from someone with decent relationships with people within the club, but even then I take this sort of stuff with a grain of salt, but it does have some level of sense about it. You'd think Mason may still be a fairly "required" player next year, with the hope that by the end of 2024 and heading into 2025, the likes of an AJ/Kreuger have settled themselves in the side and/or a Steene is ready to replace him, and Mason becomes a back up ruck in '25 on minimum chips.
Sounds perfectly logical to me and was what I suspected to be the case.

One average game does not define what a player can be.

Yup. Get that.
But injury and anything else doesn’t stop a players ability to make a good decision.

3 is a row suggests it’s an uphill struggle.

The ruck contest was the worst. He skulked off afterwards knowing he’d made the simplest of blues….

Some kids don’t make it. I’ll be amazed if he does.

Jack's not going anywhere.

JACK PLANS TO STAY A PIE

Jack Ginnivan has been given a licence to roam further afield in the VFL as he commits to putting his head down to win back his spot in the senior side.

Ginnivan has no plans to explore the trade market despite being shut out of the Pies senior side since round 12.

Collingwood’s VFL side played Sandringham across the weekend with a raft of AFL recruiters on shows as they assessed the Pies depth talent including Finn Macrae.

Ginnivan won 29 possessions in the contest _ his highest possession tally in his time at Collingwood.

In yet another sign of Collingwood’s strength, the contracted forward is putting his head down and bum up to refine his forward craft at the Pies.

Ginnivan kicked 40 goals as an old-fashioned goalsneak last year but amid a positive drugs strike and internal suspension had a delayed start to the season.

He kicked eight goals in eight weeks in the AFL but was dropped after round 12.

Against Sandringham last he week he roved across the field _ and as high as half back _ as the Pies released him from the forward 50m.

Bobby Hill has been quieter in recent weeks with only three and six possessions, so Ginnivan’s chance might not far away.

Clubs at this time of the year aggressively pursue players stuck in the VFL with loads of talent but for Ginnivan the only issue is staying at the Pies as he pushes for a finals berth.

Clubs will be looking at a host of young Magpies who have struggled to push for regular selection in the top of the table side including Trent Bianco and Josh Carmichael.

How do supporters on BF know about the trades? Last year, posters knew Hill, McStay and Frampton were all coming to the Pies well before mainstream media reported it. We're humans. People have connections. In the grand scheme of things, footy isn't a big industry and if you know people, you know inside info. Hine has said we are happy but like any list manager, that's subject to change and there may have been an incident or circumstantial change.
Not sure the word ‘humans’ can be applied to the Bulldogs board.

Liam Henry is yet to be offered a contract by the Dockers.

I would happily have him at the Pies.

That seems very strange from Freo. I'd have understood if he had not signed on but it's odd he has no offer there at all.

Was being played out of possition as a forward and didn't show much.
Finally got moved to a wing and is starting to come good.

Rumours are that he will head to the dogs as they have been interested since he was drafted (Carlton bid on him as NGA).
Also friends with Arthur 'Arty' Jones, JUH and Weightman:

Senior list:
Bianco
Kelly
Ruscoe
Draper

Rookie list:
Wilson
Begg
Murley

Probably most of these names go.

With the senior players looking to go around again in 2024…

room needs to be made for the minimum 3 ND selections… and potentially a trade target

Tough business. But lists need to constantly renew or clubs end up like WC or North
