Lipinski was also a significantly better footballer than Macrae. If he chooses to leave we won’t stand in his way or get anything before pick 40. This is one where you need to convince him his future is with Collingwood.

You’re right, but I’d hate to lose him cheap.
He really hasn’t had the opportunities he deserves and we just don’t know what we may have.
Lipinski at least played a few games (50)/years at the Doggies and came across as a 23/24 yr old. So you kind of knew what he was.

That’s the industry and whilst I’d prefer to keep him I’m not going to walk around blind to it potentially being an underwhelming outcome if he leaves. I’d probably say being a best 22 player is more leverage than being contracted these days.

Nobody could blame him, but how patient and loyal is he willing to be? That is something only he can answer. We'll have to wait and see.

He just has a simple question to answer - will my patience by rewarded?
Internally I think that would be a resounding YES.
But how he answers the question personally, is another matter.

They are all impact and score assist players. Really think they would be Hine type players.

Both Flanders and Lohmann are out of contract I believe.

Hollands has one more to go, but given his lack of opportunity and the instability at Gold Coast, now is the time to pry him out of there. From what I understand there is quite a bit of chatter that he wants to come back to Vic.

I think you're right that we hold the cards in-so-much as Macrae is contracted. Having said that if Macrae told the club he'd like to leave I doubt we'd stand in his way.

I think we'd be looking at no better than a 3rd rounder. Our job is to convince him his future is here and hope he is patient and that he comes on.

It's a tough position for Macrae. I reckon i'd feel my career was slipping away in the VFL if I were in his shoes.
