Yeah it’s a tad confusing to me too. But hine suggests this is his last year.
2021 year 1 even though he was picked up mid way so not even a full year.

3 year maximum. If Johnson or Begg had another year on the rookie list, they'd exceed the maximum and do 3 and a half years , so have to be promoted now.

Yes I reckon Sco had it correct, with the whole going by contract cycle no matter when drafted.

Yeah. I think we mean different things by "huge". Weight is probably a bigger factor than height in the way I think of "huge".
I can’t remember the last time I saw someone win the pill with the top of their head? I do remember players “benching” their opponent to provide separation to win the ball. Strength through the core>height, IMO.

Yeah, in a footy sense, the best approximation of how I think of huge is muscle mass. These references are probably a bit old for you but it was an era where body shape varied a lot more than today's running game. I'd be more inclined to call Mucky Conlon and Rene Kink huge than Justin Madden.

Max Holmes will remain at Geelong as the centrepiece of the club’s midfield rebuild despite being bombarded with interest from rival clubs.
But the Cats could struggle to hold onto Esava Ratugolea given interest from three rivals as midfielder Brandon Parfitt also assesses his future.

No surprise on either Holmes or Esava. It's paywalled for me, but am I right in assuming that Port and Sydney are two of the clubs chasing Esava?
Doesn't mention Sydney, just this --

"Despite reports Ratugolea is a certainty to get to Port Adelaide next year the Power are optimistic but far from guaranteed he will choose them as a trade destination.

The Herald Sun reported last month he has parked contract talks until year’s end, with Hawthorn and Essendon also interested observers."

He'll be getting some good offers. KPDs are just so crucial and a few teams are desperate for one or a second one.

Well disagree. In today's afl 188cm isn't huge imo.

Actually in general it isn't really tall. I've got a 16yo that's 195cm. Every generation is taller.
Nice shifting of the goal posts there 👍🏻

Rene looked naturely huge. Conlon was just an average sized guy with roids coming out of his ears.

Anyone think we'll go down the road on topping up with an occasional veteran for several years to remain in the hunt?

Only thinking Players like a fit Elliott Yeo would be devastating player in our team. Hopefully more Isaac Smith than Gunston
I think we have already done that the last couple of seasons. We have topped up the list with Mitchell, McStay, Frampton etc. Think Fly and the recruiting team looked at 2022 and decided top up from there to try and snag a flag while this list was together. Not sure we can go to that well again. 2024 we will need some of our younger types to step up

Currently we , with Geelong, are the oldest most experienced 22s in the comp. Next year we will be oldest as Geelong will lose veterans while we dont. Friday nights team was close to our preferred full strength line up. If we put that team in the GF in a couple of months time we will have 9 30yo and above players plus Crisp who is 30 4 days later. That team on Friday was the oldest and most experienced line up any team has put out in 2023 bar the round 5 Geelong team.

Geelong 2022 flag team had 10 players 30 and above. They got 3 excellent young talents into the club in 23 and we need to be looking in the under 25s to top up with to balance our list up.
