It goes to 25 when McKay goes, possibly 26 with Gresham, we then have 27-30 with GC academy players and 31 with Croft depending on the picks they take into the draft. Then there’s McCabe. My guess is it winds up about 30.

I don’t think it will get that high.

They’ll probably be a couple of picks higher than 23 (24) that get consumed in matching the GC academy bids.

Don’t think they’ll have enough points to match all 3 kids just using picks in the 20’s and 30’s even if they do carry in six selections.

We are completely guessing at that. The more likely scenario seems like he wasn't going to get an additional two years at Collingwood that Sydney were offering him, and he took it so he could lock in an extra 1.4-1.6m over those two years... that's a pretty simple decision if you ask me.
Sydney chasing him 2 years running also suggests to me that he's got some ties in Sydney which make him more likely to have moved there.

Adams was borderline best 22 by the end of the season and very injury prone.

Sydney have clearly thrown a very lucrative contract his way and he's seen the writing on the wall at the pies. He had maybe next season in the starting lineup then it would be all over for him.

Can't begrudge him for choosing the coin at the end of the day. Would have thought a bloke of his standing in the club would fight tooth and nail to not only hold his spot, but help us go back to back.

It is what it is.

Also, I won't miss his kicking skills, that is for certain.

not sure why he was borderline best 22 by the end of the season. he played a role he wasn't accustomed to at a high level and played 23 games this year, which is an equal career high games. when he got midfield minutes he was terrific.

If so good. Means we’re gonna play hardball, and from Wright’s Trade Radio interview it seems like we are
Wrighty doesn't play hard ball like Dodoro but he isn't a push-over.

Henry was eventually traded last year. I have confidence Adams will be but not until a fair deal is struck.

I dont' think they're going to be able to hold enough 2023 picks to match all 3 bids with just 7 open list spots. You might see them bank some early 2024 picks (ie Bulldogs F1) that they will then use to trade back into points this year to match their 2nd or 3rd bid. So might be some pretty active draft day trading happening.

I wouldn't mind gambling on a F1 and hope we luck into a top 10 pick similar to what Melbourne/GWS got with Freo/Tiger's picks this year.

I’m still trying to understand how a player on a long term contract well above his real value, who’s club is playing in the seconds and wants him off the books has more value than a vice captain who’s club has publicly stated is a contracted and required leader of the club..?

We got pick #27 for Grundy while agreeing to pay a portion of his contract.

Grundy is now a year older, he has removed all doubt that he is useless as a forward, and Melbourne won’t be seeking to pay any of his salary…

… and yet his value goes up to #23?!?

Doedee would have been a great pickup and given us the flexibility to play Howe forward, as well as cover Murphy if he goes down with concussion again. Shame we missed it, very good player when fit.

I hope we don’t just ask for pick 23 and not try to negotiate something better, Brisbane did it with Beams (I was impressed by Brisbane but not so much with Collingwood’s negotiation skills back then). Surely we’ve improved since, even if it we get a slightly better deal.

Beams was rated in the top 10 players in the league the year before his return according to coaches. While an important cog for us, not sure Adams is that highly rated. Late 1st or early 2nd seems about right.

Wright saying we want to be active, we have kept our cards close to our chest. Will be interesting to see what pops up in the next few days.
Said we'd like to.. we'll see what comes up.
Also said we plan to go to the draft and bring in some talent.

So some Swans nuffies are claiming 1.1m now it’s fact. Don’t change people
Even if it was $1m, I’m not sure how it changes anything? This is a player the Swans are actively chasing, it’s not like we’re trying to push him out. His current salary is irrelevant under the circumstances.

The deal was signed under Ned and was back-ended, hence the $1.1 million price tag.
Yesterday after your research you said he was on $700K.

Now, it's $1.1M stated as a fact.

Hence the need for you to start wearing a bib.
