At the same time I don’t think we’re going to roll over and accept a junk pick in the 30s.
TBH. I've got no idea about the trade value of a bloke like Adams. Tom Mitchell last year did my head in that he was so cheap.

A pick in the 30s might be all you get. If that's the case and I was Wright, I'd be looking to do what he did last year with Henry and hide the individual price within another trade to keep us happy.

Tom Mitchell was unwanted at Hawthorn and they literally paid his salary to get rid of him.

If they're willing to pay him to play elsewhere, it removes a lot of your leverage to ask for a king's ransom in a trade.

We have the ultimate leverage with Tay - We'd happily have him playing for us next year if a deal doesn't get done.

The price is a lot higher than with Mitchell.

Why? Hawks were desperate enough to get him off the books that they paid half his salary. Not rocket science why a bloke being shoved out the door was going cheap?

I think if that’s all the Swans offer then it’s likely Adams will be in black and white again in 24. But I don’t think it will come to that.

Adams as good as he is and as much as I love him

Nothing is more certain than him missing quite a few games next year.

Bad hamstrings

Bad groins

Can't lie never saw this one coming

Can be a Shocking Kick at times

I understand the best 22. But he’s not as irreplaceable as people make out.

1 final he has played in the last 6 just as a bit of food for thought.

Yeah he has goal assists and played a negating role. I don’t think it was pivotal to our success though as much as Tom Mitchell in the middle or a Bobby Hill with his pace.

Tays position in the team is replaceable easier than others. I get he wants longevity in the contract. But that’s not a team first mentality imo.

Edit: 2 out of 6 finals played

Tay is not even an ideal fit for the Fly game plan

Put it this way if Adams was at another club I doubt Fly or GW would recruit him.

I just don't get the Mitchell trade.

You're positioning it as a salary dump, but if you believe the rumours about how much they were paying of the one year left on his Hawthorn contract, they didn't dump any excess salary and we didn't take on any excess salary. We actually got that year of Mitchell's Hawthorn contract at an awesome bargain according to the rumours.

It was and is a head scratcher for me. Maybe it was Hawthorn being nuts, but with their history of being so well run it makes me question how much a bloke like that is worth in the AFL trade market and Adams is a bloke like that.

You need to take into account his role with Hawthorn. In 2023 if he stayed he was going to be fringe best 23 and playing a similar role to the one Adams did this year. I think the deal was about right for Mitchell given those circumstances. They just didn’t rate him. Adams is moving to play his preferred role with a 2 year extension on top of 2024, but we aren’t pushing him out the door. Adams is worth more.

Henry was different again because he was OOC and outside the best 23. If it weren’t for the skullduggery of the Cats I’d have probably seen it as marginal unders. McAdam for instance is a similarish, but proven talent and will likely move for less than Henry.

Momentum killer is my description for him. Biting off 15 metre diagonal kicks into corridor and turning it over
Sure, if you focus on the one's he misses. But if you focus on the one's he makes quite a lot of goals for us ensued.

It's not a matter of worth, it's a matter of what the buyer is prepared to pay.

Would we be happy if orchestrated trade deal like Dogs did with GC for pick 4 (and other picks)? Or would we feel ripped off?

Or are they posturing for a crack at pick 1 from west coast?
